What jamal did still works (otherwise it would probably break a lot of stuff). You can also right click the video and pick "copy video URL at current time" to get whatever they're using at the moment. :science:

With this I'd also like to ask what makes tires screech, because that one does not. Is it the tread pattern? Perhaps something to do with hardness?

drat, that's quite a Fiat.

As for the tires, soft compound race tires and slicks don't screech. Even ultra-high performance street tires like RS-3's and Starspecs tend to be non-screechy unless you really overdrive them badly.

Could be. I have no tech about *why*, I just know that race tires (both DOT R-compounds and full slicks) just don't screech in my experience, and the soft compound street tires like the ones I mentioned are very difficult to get a screech out of, but it can be done.

Pretty sure, though I suppose it could also be somebody screaming from the road behind them. It sounds really muffled though so I'd bet it was the occupants.

Nah. The pitch seems to constant. I would guess it was a mechanical whine of some sort that we could hear once the driver lifted and the road noise went away.

The screech comes from the tire compound skipping over pavement. I believe it's affected by hardness and contact patch design. Slicks just have a low pitched hum that isn't that loud.

In my experience stickier tires usually don't "warn" you as much as street tires do. Street tires have a big gap where they're shouty before they completely lose grip, and stickier tires just have a small hum like you said and then you're hosed.

Winter tires on tarmac just scream all the time. It's like being inside a sewing machine that's getting thrown down a cliff.

It's too bad that GTR has been sitting parked for two years after all the work that went into it. In that video I think it still had the stock turbos. It ended up being too heavy to compete in unlimited time attack but in mod class it was nearly unbeatable at the time.
