I know this has been posted before. But I think it deserves another look. Guy hill climbs in a very fast Fiat. Seems almost perfectly tuned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7YGVEMlHPs With this I'd also like to ask what makes tires screech, because that one does not. Is it the tread pattern? Perhaps something to do with hardness?

As for the tires, soft compound race tires and slicks don't screech. Even ultra-high performance street tires like RS-3's and Starspecs tend to be non-screechy unless you really overdrive them badly.

I have no tech about *why*, I just know that race tires (both DOT R-compounds and full slicks) just don't screech in my experience, and the soft compound street tires like the ones I mentioned are very difficult to get a screech out of, but it can be done.

The pitch seems to constant. I would guess it was a mechanical whine of some sort that we could hear once the driver lifted and the road noise went away.

It's too bad that GTR has been sitting parked for two years after all the work that went into it. In that video I think it still had the stock turbos. It ended up being too heavy to compete in unlimited time attack but in mod class it was nearly unbeatable at the time.
