Looking for some good kora music, preferably stuff that is a little less known and actually from West Africa. Something similar to the sounds of Ballaké Sissoko, Toumani Diabaté and Ali Farka Touré.

Toumani Diabaté's cousin, Mamadou, is also a great kora player.

Low, Foals, Alt-J, SBTRKT, James Blake?

You might dig Blonde Redhead, or at least their later stuff ("23", "Penny Sparkle"), as well as Boris' newest album (herf, "New Album"). I wouldn't stray too far out of those discs for that sound, however they both have very deep and impressive catalogs if you can tolerate more avant-garde/punk/metal sounds. Also everything Battles (slight :nws:) does is incredible.

Looking for anything that sounds like Sleepytime Gorilla Museum or The Book of Knots, any takers?

You'd be surprised, but YMMV. I go anywhere from Deathspell Omega to Periphery so I'm not really the best judge on "what's happened to this genre over the last two years" and I'm not sure anyone else is either. It's a broad question deserving of a broad answer. Some "I listen to this, what would I like that I haven't heard" would have been useful, you know?

I guess if I made a list of bands I've discovered in the last two years, it would look like:

Baroness, Benea Reach, Blood Stain Child, Buried Inside, Chthonic, Colosso, Converge, Cult of Luna, Deathspell Omega, Earth, The Faceless, Gojira, Hacride, High on Fire, The Interbeing, Intronaut, Karnivool, Kruger, Kvelertak, Leprous, Neurosis, Old Man Gloom, Periphery, Septic Flesh, Tesseract, Twilight, Ufomammut, Vortice;

with my personal favorite bands being Isis, Mnemic, The Ocean, and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.

I've been loving the most recent albums by Spawn of Possession, All Shall Perish, Nile, Abysmal Dawn, Amon Amarth, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Obscura.

I've also been enjoying Digital Renegade by I See Stars(tis my most guilty pleasure at the moment).

Can anyone recommend something similar to The Erosion Of Sanity by Gorguts? I love that album, and can't think of anything quite like it. While asking, is there anything like Blood Ritual by Samael?

Thank you for the recomendations! I really enjoy that Blonde Redhead, but it's not quite what I'm looking for. I guess I don't have any useful way to express it other than "Witching Hour but not Witching Hour" so I will keep searching :downs:

I need more downtempo in my life. Already listen to Lemon Jelly, Boards of Canada, Air, Bonobo, Four Tet, BT, The Orb, Orbital, and Tycho.

I need more. I must chill out the most. Anything else along those lines? I like stuff without lyrics, if possible. Voices are okay (Like how Lemon jelly uses samples) but I don't like people trying to sing in my electronic stuff.

Haven't heard earlier about Bohren & der Club of Gore, but I see it will visit my playlist soon. I'm more familiar with two others though, thus - let's begin with Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation (while being an alter-ego of Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble I've encountered people that know of one, but not the other), Skalpel, Off the Jazz Street (definitely less noir), Kammerflimmer Kollektief (definitely more livelier and energetic). There's also Deaf Center (post-rock piano in the same mood), Arms and Sleepers(which I found to be similar to Hidden Orchestra and quite enjoyable), Portico Quartet (electronic and, again, faster).
