Again, the quality dips back and forth rather than being like a mountain. Next up is the absolute worst level (again, out of only 6) but then the last two are pretty good.

Also, do you guys want to see the Freekstyle part of the circuit? Again, like in Downhill Domination's case, it would be the same levels as I've already played once. I can't really speed up any part of it, and I really don't know if I can do good commentary, however I do show off the best Freekstyle gameplay on the internet. If not, I'll just show off the other two race levels, then the "showoff" level, then skip to the final showoff level. And bonus stuff, of course.

You know the track is bad when its major set piece is one S-turn.

And I'd like to apologize on behalf of my headset. He's a bit upset about his upbringing and likes to take it out on my beautiful nasally voice.

I wouldn't mind one of the more spectacular Freekstyle races, so you can at least show what the player is required to do. Just one Freekstyle, then skip to the last level.

So overall the layout for how good these tracks are is as followed: Good, followed by bad (or at least kinda bad), followed by great, followed by terrible, and now a pretty good track. I see a pattern, and it's not looking good for the next track... but up now, it's the fifth track.

I think the problem is that many of these "XTREME" games are not really extreme. They are focus group tested, homogenized xtreme. You can really tell when a game is focused on trying to get in with the extreme crowd and it doesn't work.

I didn't really say my point well in the video, but being a fun game is so much more important than being an EXTREME game. SSX, Burnout, Tony Hawk, all of these let you naturally do over-the-top and cool things without telling you "hey, this is pretty cool".

We're kind of running out of things to say for Freekstyle, and we're only halfway through. Yet with the next level, we've seen all the race levels. As I said in a video, you have to go back through the courses again with the goal of reaching a point minimum as well, but since they're the same tracks, I'll just pick the best one and show it (thanks Rather Watch Them for the idea).

Also, an apology for the next 2 vids: I thought my mic was plugged in, but it wasn't.:downs: So it's laptop-recording-quality sound for the next 2 vids. My bad.

For the most part here, things are fairly obvious. Any time you see a blue sign with the Freekstyle face on it, or see a gap in a fence of the top of a raised turn, it's usually a shortcut. A shortcut that's easy to see, but tough to get to, instead of the other way around.

The most I'll say (until a couple vids from now when I say what game it is in the video) is that A: It is much more obscure than the games suggested (I think) and B: It won't be on wheels of any kind.

Also, probably not doing BMX XXX, at least not for a while. The guys who did the general "lovely PS2 games" thread did that game, and I want to get through all the other games I actually played before and sort of know how they go.

Then again, Agressive Inline and Grind Session don't fall in to that category either, but I did buy one of those already for this.

I remember Grind Session from a PS1 demo from PSM (Vol. 33) where they had a trailer for Rhapsody and some other games in it, like Disney mario kart knockoff. The level of grind session they had in there was weirdly awesome, it felt like a shittier version of Tony Hawk, but it was somehow still fun.

Ok, so after the six Freekstyle events, there's one more at the end of the circuit. Another showoff level, like how Crash Pad was. This is the last part of the circuit, and I finally reveal the next game. Of course, there is a bonus update or 2 to get through, but Freekstyle will finally end in a few days.

(I can't tell if Freekstyle is just a boring game or if college starting cut my audience down a bit, but it seems like there's little to mention anymore about this game. So, hopefully the next game'll be better for that.)

Anyways, thanks internet people for contributing! You asked interesting questions and chuckled at my lovely observations, and it was fun recording these.

Weird thing is, although I didn't ever play extreme sports games and despite the relative unheard-of-ness of Jet X20, I actually remember seeing that game in Blockbuster (lol, Blockbuster) and at the time I genuinely believed that the game was really popular. Now I realize that the fact that it was always on the shelves means it was never in people's consoles.

The one random extreme game I remember on the shelves of my local Blockbuster was some Razor scooter game. This was, of course, after I asked my friend when a Tony Hawk-esque scooter game was going to be made. Some extremeness was missing since the scooter rider on the box was wearing safety gear.

Alright, gather round, it's time to watch a game that no one played.

:siren:Game 4: Let’s Play JetX20:siren:

What is this game?
JetX20 is jet skiing game developed by Killergames. I have no idea what else they made.

JetX20 is pretty much SSX but on water. You have several 4-6 minute long courses to race down, all of them wild and over the top. The four shoulder buttons allow you to do tricks, and then holding square while holding a trick lets you tweak that into a new trick. Doing tricks or passing through sets of buoys gives you boost, which is shown on the bar to the rights. Getting your boost all the way up to the top will send you into “Mega mode” where you can pull off the 4 character-specific “mega tricks” by holding 3 shoulder buttons and tweaking.
The main mode of this game is “Combo mode”, where you are racing and trying to score trick points at the same time. This mode is what career mode uses. Along with that are a standard race mode, which is basically a time trial, and Trick mode, where the game adds multipliers you can pick up in the air off of jumps (yeah, it’s a really big SSX clone). Also, the game is (for some reason) realistic in its physics, so the rivers have currents that want you to go a certain direction (usually not the right one) and doing a trick where your guy is on the left, right, front, or back of the jet ski causes it to lean in that direction. Which is tough to recover from.

How are you doing this LP?
The way the Career mode works is that it makes you go through all three difficulty levels to unlock all the courses. You start on ‘Easy’ mode, but only race four tracks. Then you move on to ‘Normal’ mode, where you start at the first track again but race six tracks. Then you go to ‘Hard’ mode, where you finally race all eight courses in the game. I’ll be skipping straight to ‘hard’ mode, since not only does the AI get tougher but the actual tracks do as well. But they don’t do it in a way that’s fun at the same time.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how good is it?
Well, the courses all have their moments, and on lower difficulties, it’s a fun experience to ride down, maybe doing a few extra tricks to beat the point goal. However, if you mess something up, it’s easy to keep messing things up and keep doing poorly. Also, Expert mode is an absolute bitch and not fun at all up until these recordings where I (so far) haven’t had many problems. The tricking system is solid and the game is good fun, so on the scale, I’d give it an 8. That’s on lower difficulties, mind you. On Expert, that drops to maybe a 5.
