If a modern day dark angel went renegade, would they be considered fallen or are only those who split during the heresy considered fallen?

Only the Heresy dudes are the Fallen, and there aren't a whole lot of them. Their rarity means that there being even two of them on the same battlefield would be an extremely unusual event, rendering the "what color is their armor" question kind of moot. Corrupted Dark Angels should be fairly likely; I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Crimson Slaughter was a DA successor that fell for whatever reason.

That said, it's very very similar to the artwork in there. I own an old Ork codex and, while there's a lot of similar artwork, that one isn't one of them. So it's not in the old one nor the newer one. Since there are more people around now, I guess it's worth asking again, does anyone know the source for this image?

Thanks for the advice, I'd be pretty happy to get 500 for it. I'll post it up on SA Mart tonight!

Hey how plausible is this as the backstory for a army. Tzeenchian Warlord/Terminator elite dragging along 2 Obliterator cults who are backing their warband for the archeotech/whatever they come around for. The core of the warband would be 3 10 man squads of CSM, I'm gonna say they are Alpha Legion and are serving the tzeench worshippers while manipulating the Warlord to hit the targets that benefit the legion. At the same time they probably aren't that dumb and expect this so its a circle of everyone manipulating everyone with the oblis not giving a gently caress either way so long as they get what they came for. The list (That I plan to build up to, barring changes from the new codex) http://pastebin.com/RcaBMu4Y

You've put more thought into it than most, and it is totally plausible. Without any vehicle support, those oblits and terminators will be relying on their invulns a whole lot as every heavy weapon will be pointed their way. And it's really not that wise to start a CSM army right now with the new codex on the horizon. But I do like that list and your fluff.

Blue on orks just works so well, as does red, but god drat do I love it. It's the contrast between the green and blue I think.

Honestly even if the 6th edition codex was somehow poo poo I'd probably still play CSM if it wasn't too bad. Chaos just rocks on too many levels even if its not the world's greatest army. Also the oblis can pretty much deepstrike into cover or ruins near a squad of mine's Icon Bearer (Which will probably hug dirt from heavy weapons to make sure they live to do so) and the terminators would be anti personnel just as much as they'd eat a tank so dev teams would probably be targeted by them exclusively. And their Invul is alot better than the oblis.

That artwork can't be older than 4th edition 40k. Even in 3rd, Orks looked a lot more cartoony than that in 95% of the art. I'm having this awful desire to start a Dark Angels army using the models from the new starter set when I already have a Dark Angels army. I can't bring myself to field models I painted when I was 16, since they look so bad compared to what I put on the table now. I even want to start a new Ork army (separate from the Ork army I speedpainted) just so I can paint the Dakkajet well and have it match, because god forbid I paint it in the same sloppy style I painted my old stuff. Then once I finish all that I'll probably look at my Crimson Fists and think I need a new army of them to match my newfound skill, followed by me repainting my Iron Warriors then my IG, then my Valhallans, then my Dark Angels then then then Ugh this is the most vicious cycle

Does anyone have some list advice for me? I was trying an all jumpers list and getting destroyed. I thought I'd go for something a little shootier with a counter assault element. Looking at the list I just typed up there doesn't look like there's as much shooty as I though though . . . And I'd like to keep the dread because I actually have one painted. Mephiston 250 Honor Guard 165 Jump Packs 5 Death Company 165 Power Sword Power Axe Drop Pod DC Dreadnought 160 Blood Talons Drop Pod 2x 7 Man Assault Squad 322 2x Meltaguns 2x Power Swords Baal 146 Heavy Bolter Sponsons 2x Vindicators 292 -1500-

Well, yeah, there's nothing shooty there. It's also invalid; 7 man squads can't take 2 special weapons, and only the sargeant can take power weapons. Honour Guard are pointless without special weapons. Assault Marines on foot are terrible without priests. Mephiston can be easily singled out and destroyed. Whether it is the DC dread or the DC dudes, if either of them drop solo in front of the enemy army on the first turn they're going to die. Also, all jumpers doesn't work now that you can't reserve everything, but you can still do jumpers backed by devastators.
