Saw an Audi R8 in the wild a few months ago. Wasn't a GT though, had a V8. Such an amazing car. Then a couple weeks later I saw something even more wonderful: a completely stock Honda CRX. The guys driving it were a little weirded out when I asked them if I could take a picture of their car. The bra even looks old as hell. It's a Citroen DS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citroen_DS Now sit back and prepare for at least one pretentious post claiming it's the most beautiful car ever designed. (Top Gear said so.)

I still don't quite understand the DS's brake button (instead of a brake pedal). It seems as though you can't apply or release pressure progressively when using it. Have any of you guys ever driven one?

Yeah, they look like front-engined F1 cars to me. The front-engined Indycars of the era were often referred to as roadsters.

An observer posted:Is there a name for this type of car? Love the hell out of them. Like others have said, these are open-wheel roadsters; the first one is a Maserati 250F, and the second is a Ferarri 340. They are F1 cars but both manufacturers made similar models for Indianapolis as well.

Well it's just more direct control over the hydraulic fluid volume, wouldn't that allow you the same kind of linear control? Linear not taking into account the calculus of the fluid pushed out rate wrt depression on the button.

I haven't driven a DS, but I've driven a Xantia, which still had some of the old-school Citron brake feel. It's not really that different, just imagine an extremely hard and very responsive brake pedal. The pedal itself doesn't move much, but you can still modulate it. You just need a much lighter touch than with regular brakes.

Even better is that I'm sitting in my kitchen, window open and watching this video, and the second the engine starts in that video, it starts to smell like diesel exhaust. Turns out someone started an old truck outside, but I was pretty confused for a bit.
