Last I checked into it spine protectors are something of a red headed step child in the gear world. Studies show most back injuries from motorcycle accidents are actually the result of neurological, hip, and shoulder damage and not direct spinal impacts. They have been shown to protect all the internal organs back there fairly well though. So in short - maybe.

Schlieren posted:Lack of gear regardless of amount spent is always mind-boggling, but in this specific case I wonder which of his traumatic injuries could have been prevented. The broken back for one, but I wonder about the ribs. Also I'm surprised at the apparent lack of serious skin injuries Yeah a jacket probably isn't going to protect from broken ribs and a broken back. As for skin injuries most Harleys on the gap are doing roughly 15-20 mph, they probably didn't slide really at all, more of a roll 10 feet.

I know, no riding pants, didn't get them in time, but I am wearing knee armor.)

"Accident prone MC road" - http://goo.gl/maps/BPUcL I can see why. Lots of fun curves on a fairly narrow road, but most of the corners are blind. I can imagine a lot of people ride it a lot faster than they should.

So there was a classic car show near where I live, I didn't go for the cars, I went for the motorcycles. lovely cellphone pictures ahead. Look at these loving old bike, look at them. This Motto Guzzi was gorgeous. I have no idea if this is a brand new Norton or a super clean old one. Still I loved it to bits. An old Indian and Harley, I hate cruisers but they still brought a smile to my face. This rusty, red motorcycle has more character than most modern Harleys.

Dual plugged heads where the extra plugs mount inside the timing belt and the caps go through the belt cover. That's awesome.

Get rid of that lovely music. I don't care what kind of music it is, it's lovely because it's there, and incongruous with the natural sound of the motorcycle. The only place for music in videos is in galleries of stills, silent film, and time-lapse.

I'll see if I can't get some frames out of my gopro. It died a few seconds later so that's where I cut the video. I've got tons of little 10mb files on the memory card of me trying to record video of the scene and the bike. I'll see if I can't nab some pictures off of those. edit: Here's one, all the small files didn't run long enough for me to move the camera to capture any of it. The bike was like this for about an hour and a half. When we finally dragged it out all it needed was a bump-start and he rode it 40 miles home. I'm really, really glad your friend didn't lose his bike, and I hope there isn't any lasting damage. That said, I can't help but wish just a little bit that your video had continued with you watching the bike tumble down the hillside shedding bits of plastic and metal before exploding in a huge fireball.

Yesterday's trackday was slippery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKvmFKNEeyo I hit the kill switch while sliding It was the first rain in over a month, so the track was slick, especially for just Q2s. Downshifting would break the rear loose, which isn't a problem if you're straight up but I kept pushing it deeper and deeper until this.
