I spent $1,000 on my computer but I'm too "poor" to take my dog or any of my animals to the vet for vet care. My neglect caused 1 of my birds to die prematurely! My dog pisses everywhere! I don't care! I'm a piece of shit! Don't believe me? Check my post history in Pet Island!

Does this dog look 7ish months old to you guys? Emaciated, but I'm having a hard time imagining a dog that old weighing less than most chihuahuas :ohdear: I really want it though because. Look. at. it.

Nabbed some free reptile supplies, and seeking a heavy disinfectant now. Theres a dish, light domes, decor... would rather not use bleach- will vinegar do the trick at killing everything? I dont mind buying something, I was thinking about Wipeout 2. Mophy is chill as gently caress. If I smacked blocks in front of my cat, or better yet chucked blocks at her, she would freak the gently caress out and probably manage to claw up the furniture even more as she ran away in sheer terror.

I love Mophy. Her markings are so pretty :swoon:

Two of us are magical.
One of us is real.

You are a monster!

And then after watching Trophy's reaction in the apology, I had to see what my cat would do (the non-crazy one) if I threw something at him so I tried it and he just looked at me. I am perpetuating the cycle of abuse. :smith: And I think I gave Bagheera battered catte syndrome, because as soon as I sat down he hopped into my lap and started purring.

edit: and speaking of cats, in case anyone remembers from the "animal questions not deserving their own thread" thread, I took my crazy kitty in to the same dental specialist I take my GSD to (just because he gets free exams and discounted care because he's a service dog) and she found 3 more teeth in need of removal. :( So that's scheduled for next week and then hopefully my poor kitty will be feeling good.

White vinegar diluted with water (I do about 80/20) kills virtually everything that bleach does, afaik. You can use a pet stain enzymatic cleaner too. By and large the 'reptile cage cleaning' products sold are mostly poo poo and are sometimes actually harmful because they use a huge amount of alcohol; like hand sanitizer levels of alcohol. You can use rubbing alcohol in small doses, but let it dry out for a few hours-day and wipe down with water/vinegar before use.

Basically, yes, white vinegar is all you need.

They probably gave them up because goldens are aggressive as gently caress, if not the fact that they're insectivores and thus rack up a lot of feeder bills. They're easy to take care of, provided you can give them a big enough space and the right temps/food.

They just have them as "terrier mixes" but they seriously look like little tiny Ibizans. :3: Their things say they're about 6 months and 12 lbs. We saw them at an adoption event, they're maybe slightly larger than an Italian Greyhound, smaller than a whippet. They are awesome. :3:

Also, I wanted to steal this guy, too:

His name is Rumble. :3: He was sooooooo nice and laid back, all he did was stand around and take in the scenery. He could care less what was going on and would just stand there for pets. Didn't even look back when I bent down to let my baby pat his back, too. :3: If we were actively looking for a dog, we would have snagged him in a heartbeat. strange sisters

Skylar has been slowing down significantly. The morning walk tired her out today, and while she did bounce back by this afternoon, she's still not going to be the bouncy dog she used to be. We mostly do quiet activities now. She'll sit beside me in the grass while my partner hits tennis balls for Beck in the yard and I pet her and talk to her. I've been reading to her lately, too, and it always makes her excited. My sister visited last weekend and tonight, and she agrees that Skylar may be ready to go soon. For now we're spending lots of time with her, ltting her and Beck get plenty of cuddling together, and feeding her anything that will get her to eat.

Tomorrow is my partner's day off from work. In the morning, before it gets too hot, we'll take the dogs to our favorite trails. We'll walk the short loop designed for people who use mobility aides. Just two months ago, both dogs could happily walk a 2 mile trail with us. Now we'll be going .3 miles, on Skylar's last trail walk. She'll want to walk too fast, because that's what she always does. She'll insist that she be walking slightly ahead of Beck, who will be too busy checking in with me every so often to care who's in front. We'll go as slow as we need to, and be prepared to carry her back to the car. On the way home, we'll stop at a drive thru and get her a cheeseburger. Beck will get a little, but Skylar will get most of it, because she is Such A Good Girl.

edit: as soon as I posted this I had to go over and help her because she was confusing the dishwasher with a door again. Stop being dumb when I'm trying to make you sound noble, dog! :saddowns:

Skylar had some rough patches today, but she had fun on her super-slow trail walk. Dog drugs and being allowed to make her own bed (by yanking and digging at blankets until they're suitably torn I guess?) help. The cheeseburger went over well, too, except she's recently decided she doesn't like pickles. We've been in touch with my sister and it looks like Saturday we'll have the vet over to euthanise. I want her to still be happy when she dies.

It's weird knowing when it's going to happen. Right now I'm being the responsible one and planning things out and just making the dog happy. Once she's gone I can cry.

Lol, this dog..looked like a mix of papillion (long frilly hair, ear tassles, etc) and terrier thing with a long body.

'What kind of dog is that?'
'Jack russel!'

Are there people out there who think "jack russel" means "small dog with lots of energy"? Dumb.

I brought my dogs to visit the people with developmental disabilities at the home I manage last week. The dogs were excited because they love people, but they never jump or lick and I had them under verbal and leash control the entire time. They were just walking around, whacking the deck furniture with their tails, and nudging hands to get pets. My staff told them to sit, they sat. Then I brought up that I would like to do therapy dog work, and she was like, "yeah they are pretty young and rowdy yet." I got pretty offended that she would insult their good name and my good training.

So grouse hunting with my GSDs is kind of stupid. Occasionally they will go romping off, but mostly Sigma is at heel and Delta is about 20 feet ahead going straight down the trail. They've learned the word "grouse" and they will sit and wait, crying, on the trail while we go in after birds, but with only one successful trip they don't understand that they can make things happen.

So naturally I've been looking for a suitable upland bird dog. I think the Brittany would fit my needs. And there is even a breeder in my province! Bragdon Brittanys. I think it was this paragraph on their home page that sold me:
We breed first class Brittany Spaniel Bird Dogs for the foot hunter. Our pups go mainly to hunters and outdoor familys. We don't insist that you show or field trial our pups. We much prefer that our pups go hunting.

So PI, whaddaya think? The possible pup is a long ways off, a year or more.

Brittany Spaniels are awesome, but they're SUPER high energy. They can run all day and aren't particularly conscientious about where they're running vs where you are. A lot of the dogs who I know who bolt when let off leash are Brittanys. If you can handle it though, godspeed. :)

Yeah......my in-laws were doing this for their dachshund when she refused to eat her food. It took months of my sister-in-law & me pointing out the dog's disgusting teeth & giving pain as the reason why she wouldn't eat before they took her in for a teeth cleaning & extraction.
