I have a question. While some people are attempting to upgrade from SERO 4g wimax to LTE and can't do it online, I can not DOWNgrade from 4g wimax to windows mobile.

Yes, yes, I know it're ridiculous that I am wanting to use a non android phone, but I have a Nexus 7 and windows mobile can do wifi routing and 4g wimax isn't all that great. I basically need something to make and receive text messages and phone calls sometimes.

Anyway, how is this accomplished? Can it be? I'll save 10.85 (roughly) per month, or 130 per year if I can pull this off. Also I am doing it because the evo 3D isn't that great. Any ideas?

Did you call and talk to someone? Check the OP and use that number.

According to her the iPhone 5 will only be released to consumer accounts, not employee accounts.

Also, this is a pretty big bummer if true. Guess they are trying to weed out the SERO accounts little by little?

I should say, they're not going to be released to employee accounts right now. I'm under the impression they would make it eventually. I'm still going to try to preorder online tomorrow morning so I'll see what happens.

You probably have a swac account a d not a sero account then. Sero accounts are not employee accounts. Swac accounts and ewd accounts usually do not get flag ship devices eligibility until a few months after launch.

This.

Fyi Sprint should be taking pre orders for the 5 starting Friday. You are going to see various opinions on how much one has to put down, my company currently has a retarded policy that a customer has to put down the full $200 to pre order (which is just stupid), standard tends to be $50 down.

Right now inventory is probably a huge question mark across the board, honestly there is no guarantee on who will have what quantities on launch day between Apple, corporate, indirect, big box, etc. All I got is pick one and choose one. If I happen to get extra inventory available I'll be glad to let people know, but anything I would ship would certainly be a few days after launch.

Well I've never worked for Sprint, and when I log in at Sprint.com it shows my account as SERO Premium. I hope that lady was just confused because I was able to pre-order online just now for both accounts. There was a nag screen I had to click through that mentioned my account would have to change prior to activation, but that should be expected apparently.

I guess worst case, we have iPhones early and have to wait to activate them. Or flip on eBay and find a GS3.

And oh yeah, gently caress Sprint's $36 activation fee for online orders.

Why the iPhone 5 on Verizon and Sprint Won’t Juggle Calls and Data

quote:

A lot has changed in Apple’s new iPhone. But with the Verizon Wireless and Sprint versions of the iPhone 5, there’s something that will remain the same from the old model: The phone still won’t be able to place a call and handle data activity over the cellular network at the same time.

Check her upgrade eligibility, as long as she is eligible yes, but if it already processed her upgrade no.

If you cancel your plan you can't sign up for 2 months (or about that).

If you add a line, cancel your current line and move your number to google voice, then you could get the subsidized pricing. I don't know what your ETF is (probably $300-350), so do the math on which is better.

Fyi everyone, the iPhone launched on Sprint October of last year. So the lowest an ETF is for a Sprint iPhone customer would be a launch day purchase, which would have an ETF of about $300-310. ETFs start at $350 and after 6 months start going down by $10 a month.

Personal opinion, but if I had a 4S on contract i would just wait for the next year's model, the 5 looks nice but i don't see it as an "OMG" upgrade from the 4S. If you are eligible then yeah, get the 5 for sure over the 4S.

But LTE is months, at best, from being installed in Tulsa and lots of other reasons

Sprint does not do that anymore (no one does). You pay yourself. That said I process 2 phone orders using Apple at 0420 est and they still haven't hit my credit card. I was told by Goons in the Apple thread it would tonight.

That said you could do the Best Buy pre-order when it starts. It is only $50 to pre-order.

I did this without a problem to steal my boss's upgrade and get a Galaxy Nexus. Can't remember the exact order if the steps, but just call to activate and explain where you want all the phones to end up and the CSR should have no problem helping you out. It'll help to have all the MEIDs of the phones.

This.

The 4S is getting iOS6, so the only thing you will be missing is LTE and a little bigger screen. Sure the processor is probably faster, but the 4S is pretty drat speedy itself.

LTE is nice and all, to a point. Pretty much everywhere I go has wifi access anyways. The nice thing about LTE on Sprint compared to Verizon (which I'm on) is that it is unlimited.

There are some slight improvements on the 5, but overall it is not a must upgrade from the 4S. Unfortunately the article is a bit wishy-washy on why the device supports neither SVDO or SVLTE. As usual, AnandTech provides a far more detailed explanation, which ammounts to a bit more than "missing third antenna lol".

Basically, it turns out that the iPhone 5 uses the same RF transceiver (RTR8600) as the Evo LTE and SGS3. However, Apple decided to wire its antenna ports in a configuration that would allow it to support more LTE bands (European, Verizon's SMH C block, and Sprint's PCS G block) with the same hardware. In contrast, the Evo LTE and SGS3 have a duplicate CDMA signal chain for SVDO and SVLTE support, at the cost of supporting fewer LTE bands.

FWIW, earlier I mistakenly assumed that Apple was using Qualcomm's newer WTR1605 transceiver (which has two additional ports over the RTR8600) to provide more LTE band supports than we've seen on LTE handsets so far. But that's not the case, the trade was no SVDO/SVLTE.

Duckman2008 posted:

I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker. But it's a feature that some people appreciate, and it's important enough (at least, for marketing purposes) that CDMA Android handset manufacturers have gone well out of their way to include support for it.

I wouldn't say that Apple made the wrong decision. They have a good reason for not including SVDO/SVLTE support. It fits in with their general strategy of limiting the number of hardware variants (even if the carrier-specific hardware changes are minimal). It also adds significantly to the device's roaming capability, and speaks of an approach that is intendeds to transcend the current awful legacy network situation, so it will remain applicable in a world where we're running LTE everywhere.
