If you are, that means you're prob listening to a lot of just straight house and techno podcasts. In the past few months boiler room has had like Ben Sims, Sandwell District, Xhin, Jan Atkins, and RA has had Rrose, Shifted, Vakula, Kerri Chandler, Paul Woolford, etc. If you're listening to all of those every week, not just cherry picking the "bass djs" or whatever that you know and you still need more, then I'd recommend subscribing to CLR Podcast, Smoke Machine Podcast (http://soundcloud.com/smokemachinetaipei), going through old mnml ssgs podcasts, the smilecoldanatomy podcasts (http://smilecoldanatomy.blogspot.com/) Also, don't forget about MixesDB, you can look up your favorite DJs and see what mixes have been reported etc. http://www.mixesdb.com/w/Category:Nicolas_Jaar http://www.mixesdb.com/w/2012-03-23_-_SCB_%26_John_Osborn_Sub:stance,_Panorama_Bar,_Berlin_(ssgs_special,_2012-04-20) (this mix is great btw). If it doesn't give a link to a download, then it shouldn't take a whole lot of googling just to find a new podcast.

An0 posted:New Mala album streamable here : http://www.factmag.com/2012/09/06/stream-malas-new-lp-mala-in-cuba/ I won't have anything bad said against the wonder that is congos! Never enough as far as I'm concerned! The vinyl release looks nice though, with the printed sleeves and all, but for £30 forget it. Prices are just getting too crazy for my liking, and I still think 180g vinyl is a con. And don't joke about the Cambridge thing! Remember last time Cambridge was involved in anything you ended up with those Hospital Future Sound Of Cambridge releases. It's always seemed like a place that should stick to producing future members of the Tory party and less music. The next release on Brownswood sounds interesting though, the third volume of their Electric series. Some names, some no-names. A nice mix of it all. And plus since it's me and you know I'll worship whatever Zed Bias does no matter what, he's also got yet another album out soon. Well technically he's just on the buttons and it's a release from vocalist Yannah Valdevit, who did some work with the likes of Domu and Atjazz. Nice to see her back too since she's pretty good and I don't have much that she's performed on. http://shop.etchshop.co.uk/releases/TRUCD255/equilibrium/595 Pick Flowers came out a digital single (boo!) a wee while ago and was great, kinda reminded me of a proper female vocal garage joint vibewise.

Yeah I was thinking that's been out for a wee while already. Maybe it was just some promos or something. More Terra is only a good thing though. Music Box on Royal-T's album is definitely the best thing on it if you ask me. Speaking of Grime, True Tiger also has a mixtape out this week, which you can get via the Facebook page. It's got the lot: MCs, Snoop loving Dogg, instrumentals of the tunes, some live takes, what more can you ask for? It's pretty kinda jump-uppy but like I've said before the Grime crew know how to loving work that angle and it all comes together well. Whoever was wanting grime instrumentals again there's a few there you can probably use. Plus they're all 320k so actually usuable in real life. Still rather have a CD mind. Also this week I dug out Fallacy aka Danny Vicious's album Blackmarket Boy out the shelves for the first time in years. It's a million times better than I remember it, and I only have good memories of it. You'll probably know him better 'cause he's on a couple of MJ Cole tracks, though this album is more Hip-Hop with the occasional Garagey thing. Very nice, can't believe it's almost ten years old though! loving crazy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoNgfrS9i3g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOlJdaNNFWg

Hedmuk, FatKidOnFire - two blog type's (I actually contribute for FKOF in terms of doing write-ups on the New York area) that are constantly putting out mixes and free tunes, etc. Though it may be too repetitive - doesn't seem like too many people are into or grow tired of the, uh, "Biome sound" I'll call it, stuff. RoodFM has become the main radio for underground young artists - the roster they have now is ridiculous with weekly spots from up and comers. Bigggg sets daily.

Still so good, I'd totally forgot how solid it is. Proper UK Hip-Hop. It's a shame that there was never a follow up. I guess it must not've sold so well and Virgin dropped him or something. I don't know, seems a shame as I'm sure I remember the singles doing alright and hearing them on the radio and stuff. Maybe I'm misremembering or they were played on like 1xtra at 2am or something. It was the new LP by Sleepin' Giantz on Tru Thoughts that made me go digging in the shelves for it, since they're Fallacy, Zed Bias and Rodney P. Definitely pick up that if you haven't already. Proper vibes.

Going from New Orleans to New york then to Tampa in three days would be stressful enough, but to have to play a gig at each stop? The way that schedule is set up I can't imagine that he will get any sleep that isn't on an airplane for the entire tour.

It may not exactly be an original thought but still very relevant if you ask me, especially nowadays when you see talk of what some 'big name' DJs bring. Luton van full of big gently caress off lighting rigs and 12 man roadie crews to set everything up, like it's a bloody rock concert or something.

Does anyone know of a place to get the original releases of a lot of the early Funky tunes? Well a lot of the early stuff, like the stuff that ended up on the Supa D Rinse mix, did actually come out on vinyl back then. I've got a small stack of records like those Jelly Jam/Katy B joints, the Donaeo stuff on Zephron like African Warrior(don't forget his album), the Spoilt Rotten records stuff which had the likes of DJ Naughty and Hard House Banton tracks released on it, releases from Z-Audio's Funky labels Its Funky and Urban Riddims, the Crazy Counsinz stuff sold a ton plus a bunch of white labels from like Roska, Lil Silva and Apple. No idea how easy/cheap they'd be to track down. Can't think they'd be too expensive though. But since I guess you mean digital, I know Juno Download still has (or at least had) a UK Funky section and I wouldn't be surprised to find some of the classics on there still. Though actually it might be best if you were searching that just to do a general search, a lot of places didn't really know what label to stick on Funky tracks, sometimes Deep House, Tribal House, Funky House, UKG or whatever, I've seen it all. Way back when there used to be a UK Funky forum (it was basically an attempt to do a DubstepForum) they used to have a download section, but I don't actually know if they sold like, 'brand name' artist on there or if it was just a glorified Soundcloud. Then as now I don't bother with digital download. Actually even getting a hold of UK Funky tune when it was 'big' was always a loving marathon, at least I thought it was anyway. It kinda seemed to get a bit stuck between the vinyl and digital worlds. Vinyl releases seemed to stop dead past like 2008 or so, and by all accounts poo poo just did not appear out on digital either. I always figured that was one reason why Funky never really took off the way it should've. Todays Rinse video thing is Lady ST https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5Gur7pfdmM

Actually it's Alex Nut's label if I remember right, so if you've heard his radio show you probably get the idea. I kinda see it like the inheritor of the whole 200Black/Bitasweet/People etc Broken Beat mantle which is probably why I've been feeling it. I guess some of the Floating Points stuff maybe edges a bit more techy sounding at times, but it still keeps kinda loose and flowing and funky. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inANu1ZmuqM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNN7vFrkIjw FunkinEven's stuff tends to be like funkin' boogie down acid style, really cool if you ask me. The Roland's Jam single he had out a wee while ago was great, like proper 21st century acid house banger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-nKaGX93E4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdCe2U_Hp4k And the Fatima stuff is obviously pretty warm and soulful, since vocalist y'know? Actually FunkinEven does a lot of the production for her. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rbGreE943c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL4wijBqBhw And they've got a couple of other artists on the roster like ARP.101 and Mizz Beats.
