Not so much looking for a recommendation, but does anyone know of stores that carry just plain old magnets? I was going to order some rare earths from Amazon but they don't do quick shipping on them and I need them for a project this weekend. I really just need a good sized ceramic magnet or a few rare earth magnets but I'm having a hell of a time tracking them down locally.
I was in Lowes a few weeks ago to buy magnets and they seemed to have a pretty good selection.

I'm looking for a recommendation for a backpack. This semester I'm not carrying a lot- 1 textbook, 1 binder, 2 notebooks, an iPad, a bottle, and small things like a calculator. I probably will never carry a laptop with me ever again, but having the option isn't a deal killer. I want good quality without being huge and made of overly-heavy material.

I was looking at this one.

I have this backpack Swissgear Backpack it's light and very easy on the shoulders and has a lot of space inside it with lots of pockets etc. Dependant on the size of your binder you might want to look at their smaller models as i bought mine to hold a huge laptop. Smaller Swissgear Backpack my housemate has one of these and swears by it. The quality on both is impeccable.

Not sure wether this should go somewhere in SH/SC, since it's basically just a piece of plastic I'm looking for, and it's a pretty long shot anyway...

I need an RJ45 surface mount box, something like this:

But I need it to be black, so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb next to the black wall outlet. They only seem to come in white and ivory though. Does anyone know wether a black version of this exists at all?

I can't seem to find any at the usual places I know. Your best bet might be getting some plastic spraypaint and coat one yourself. If you get the kind for plastic it won't flake off. Or a combo of a plastic ready primer and a matte spraypaint would make a less shiny box. $10-15 either way to paint it yourself probably.

I usually hate doing a big jacket so i like to use multiple layers, and a windproof softshell jacket. Hell, anything really to cut the wind with the outer layer and then you provide your insulation in the inner layers. Companies like north face, arcteryx, columbia, etc have categories of their jackets that are windproof so you can search to find something in your style and budget. Goretex is waterproof and wind proof, so you'll see a lot of outerwear jackets use that. Polartec fleece is super nice at keeping you warm and insulated, but not so much windproof so its used as an inner layer usually. Leather is also pretty drat windproof but poo poo for insulation, so the whole layering theory applies again.

I have one of these http://www.thenorthface.com/catalog/sc-gear/mens-jackets-vests-filter-category-soft-shells_windwear/men-39-s-summit-thermal-jacket.html and then use cheap REI fleece undergarments to keep warm during the winter.

Bluetooth speakers? I haven't seen anyone ask about them. I was just at Frys messing around with a few of them. The Big Jambox is stupid easy to set up, I figured out how to do it without asking anyone. BTW I am using an Android phone. Also what is a good speaker dock if I choose to go that route?

I have a Logitech Boombox that I love. Sound quality is good on battery power, great when plugged in to the wall (20W when plugged in, only 6W when on battery). Battery life has been good, I've used it for a few hours at a time with no problems (I think it's rated at 6 hours). It's a bit pricey at $120, but I bought it with birthday money and I bet I've used it almost every day since I bought it. Bluetooth works good and the 3.5mm input is fine as well.

Highly recommended!

Not the Reefs though. Insanely comfortable, VERY well made(I'm 270 pounds and they stood up to me climbing all over rocks, and a scooter crash) and most have a bottle opener on the sole. They are pricey, 50 dollars or so, so if you're the kind that loses sandals maybe they're not the best. But they're perfect for me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

EQ3 stock a very swank Herman Miller number for about $250 - definitely on the expensive side (although it's the same price as a genuine Anglepoise or Knoll Desk Standard), but designed to look timeless and last a lifetime.

I have a flip-flop recommendation as well:
Montrail Molokai - You put these in the oven when you first get them & then they custom-mold to your feet. Ridiculously comfortable & they really cling to your feet (usually a minor annoyance with flip-flops). Also, since Montrail has its roots in backpacking boots, they're surprisingly rugged & sturdy despite being as light as any other sandal I've worn. I actually own a pair of Reefs that have been gathering dust in my closet since I got these.

It looks like they also offer a model called Lithia also that offers a bit firmer arch. I can't personally vouch for that model but it looks like it has the oven-bake thing too, which seems to me like the key to why these sandals are so awesome.

Buying pajama bottoms + shirt/tee/top for my girlfriend. With winter just around the bend and us living up north, I think I want to go for comfort and warmness. I heard good things about bamboo fabric, but I'm not sure if that qualifies as warm clothing.

While I'm at it, do you have any recommendations for slippers that would complement the jammies?

I've had bad luck with SmartWool going threadbare on the bottom (literally seethrough) in under a year without being worn much. I'd recommend Cabela's brand wool socks over them anyday, and they come in different weights and levels of padding.
