Also I cannot guarantee I won't bellow "gently caress OFF" at Victoria Coren and get escorted out of the building by security. The Walls seem to be a lot harder this year, considering this is the first round and everything. Or perhaps I've just been dumbed down by the Radio Times' versions.

No love for last nights Bakeoff? There was bloodshed to go along with a strudel that looked like it had a bullet hole in it. I was sure the annoyingly nervous lady was going to lose because Sarah-Jane talked her into throwing her dough around which would lead SJ to her own nervous breakdown, how does a cooking show inspire such emotions? To be fair, after so many weekends together (I'm presuming they film on a Saturday and Sunday?) it's nice to see the camaraderie between them all, there's been very little animosity so far, maybe that only kicks in when down to the last few or bakers are mostly pleasant folk. Perhaps next week with its two people being booted out will shows us which! Fazana fucked around with this message at 13:21 on Sep 19, 2012 |

Who puts their fingers into a blender anyway? Silly boy. Good thing one of the other bakers was a doctor. I'm rooting for Shetland Hipster James to win, though I think Slightly Sinister Brendan may pip him to the post. Wanted to steal that super-thin strudel pastry he made.

Why do I seem to always end up watching The Revolution Will Be Televised? It's the most horrible, bile-inducing, left-wing-student politics possible. It makes me genuinely angry to watch. I think I keep watching so I can see it when Chris Morris and Charlie Brooker tear their masks off and announce that it was just a massive satire.

He did it with true kneecapper-flair.

Do they always do it purely based on the week's baking, or do they take past challenges into account? Because the Scottish guy is quite obviously better than the one who looks like fat Sabrina the Teenage Witch, it would have been silly to boot him and not her over one bad week.

I think Brendan will probably get it, dude's hit his stride while everyone else has been wavering. James in particular seems to have had a mediocre couple of weeks. I did love just how agitated everyone got this week. Mel and Sue can barely keep everyone's morale up.

I honestly think there's still about 4 or 5 that could potentially win it. Obviously it won't be Ryan or Sarah Jane, the rest have a chance. Brendan looks the most likely but it only takes one disastrous bake to put someone in danger. Still hoping for lovely Cathryn to push for victory

It's each week which I actually prefer as a viewer, no-one can coast a week if they did well the week before. I think Victoria proved that, she won week one by a country mile and was booted out in week three. Brendan has to be the favourite, a bit like Danny Mills in the celebrity competition that's almost at an end he came on with a ton of technical knowledge etc and as the weeks have gone by he's added a bit of flair to his repertoire. Dany is the only one I suspect might sneak past him. The Scottish jumper guy is going to try something even more outlandish than usual at some point and come a cropper.

I don't get why they keep putting really wet foods in their pastries and what have you, every time they do it they say "I'm a bit worried it's going to be too wet" - cut to 15 minutes later and their bake is too wet every single bleedin time

But I like measuring my blood pressure in PSI. At least that new thing sounds pretty good. Although the Comedy Unit is very hit and miss. For every Still Game or Chewin' The Fat, there's a Burnistoun or Limmy's Show.

That...just wasn't funny. I dunno if it's maybe because I'm from Glasgow, so the novelty of his accent isn't there or whatever, but that wasn't funny at all. I just kept waiting for some kind of punchline like it was building to something.
