That's a Cougar, I believe. They weigh 15 tons, and I'm fairly certain that the manufacturers are more concerned with the occupants surviving a estimated 300-500 lb. IED attack:

than the rear end not ripping off during a panic stop. They've been in service in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Isrealis use them, and I believe the Iraqis now use a slightly modified one as a domestic troop transport; and I haven't heard of one doing that. Driving 15 miles back to base on three wheels after surviving an IED attack, yes; rear axle ripping itself out under a panic stop, no.

I'm guessing that was from a factory performance test and the issue was corrected.

She hasn't learned how to brace herself, that's the main problem - seat forward enough to wedge your feet in the corners of the footwell, outer arm up and holding the grabhandle, inner arm across abdomen and holding the door handle.

Someone needs to do a proper study of the fear felt by an inexperienced passenger with an experienced driver vs an experienced passenger with an inexperienced driver.

No, really. Getting chucked around a cabin with little more than an inertia reel seatbelt to hold you isn't fun for anyone, if you show people how to hold themselves in place, it's a lot less uncomfortable.

What's strange is that I felt the opposite was true when I was in a five point harness with an instructor driving at mid-ohio. Whenever I tried to brace myself I started getting uncomfortable and queasy, tightening the harness and letting myself flop around like a fish felt a lot more comfortable.

Getting tossed around in a 3 point sucks and can make things seem a lot worse than they are. Compare how violent the ride in these two cars look:

The forces are pretty similar, the guy in the second one is just bracing and it seems smoother despite a big powerslide at the end which are pretty jarring even when braced.

Some of it has to be Russia. Every really horrible crash story I hear of from there ends in some official taking a bribe to look the other way.

In a previous discussion on Russian and Chinese dash cam videos someone brought up a good point that many of these drivers have not grown up with cars (including the rules and laws surrounding them) like most of us have. The point was that mass car ownership in Russia and China is a relatively new thing, and with so many new-ish drivers on the road crazy poo poo is bound to happen.

Maybe, without the wheel your body still has trouble feeling the motion but when you're snug in the seat undulations in the track will match up much better with what you're seeing. Locking up all your muscles to brace against the car actually numbed the sensation of motion, I think. Hard to say.

There is defiantly a car hierarchy at least in the Cities. Nice cars get right of way no matter what, lovely cars should beware and pedestrians should not ever be in the street. Not uncommon to see people drive on sidewalks and hard shoulders to pass slow traffic.

More the inverse or converse or one of those other math words. The A-10 is crazy looking because it was built around a gun & design theory that was really good at killing tanks. That car is built around a motor that was designed to look shiny.

One is function dictates form, the other is just pure form.

Thing's loving nuts looking though, kind of a shame nobody will ever see its full potential.
