Lord Gaga posted:It looks like this is the type of wheel hop that would be controlled by control arms...is this one of those yea we just use leaf springs type suspensions? That's a Cougar, I believe. They weigh 15 tons, and I'm fairly certain that the manufacturers are more concerned with the occupants surviving a estimated 300-500 lb. IED attack: than the rear end not ripping off during a panic stop. They've been in service in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Isrealis use them, and I believe the Iraqis now use a slightly modified one as a domestic troop transport; and I haven't heard of one doing that. Driving 15 miles back to base on three wheels after surviving an IED attack, yes; rear axle ripping itself out under a panic stop, no. I'm guessing that was from a factory performance test and the issue was corrected. The Prong Song fucked around with this message at 16:36 on Sep 23, 2012 |

Getting chucked around a cabin with little more than an inertia reel seatbelt to hold you isn't fun for anyone, if you show people how to hold themselves in place, it's a lot less uncomfortable. What's strange is that I felt the opposite was true when I was in a five point harness with an instructor driving at mid-ohio. Whenever I tried to brace myself I started getting uncomfortable and queasy, tightening the harness and letting myself flop around like a fish felt a lot more comfortable.

In a previous discussion on Russian and Chinese dash cam videos someone brought up a good point that many of these drivers have not grown up with cars (including the rules and laws surrounding them) like most of us have. The point was that mass car ownership in Russia and China is a relatively new thing, and with so many new-ish drivers on the road crazy poo poo is bound to happen. 4/20 NEVER FORGET fucked around with this message at 10:54 on Sep 26, 2012 |

Nice cars get right of way no matter what, lovely cars should beware and pedestrians should not ever be in the street. Not uncommon to see people drive on sidewalks and hard shoulders to pass slow traffic.

One is function dictates form, the other is just pure form. Thing's loving nuts looking though, kind of a shame nobody will ever see its full potential.

Its function is form. Cars can be art, too. I think that's what a lot of people don't get about show cars. They might not ever make a pass down a dragstrip, but that's not what they are built to do.
