Despite how bad this movie was, I can't complain because they made a movie and I haven't.

This is sort of like saying that I haven't composed a sympathy, but a guy dropping a piano out of a tenth-story window has.

What I do give him credit for is holding so strongly to the notion that he was genuinely making a fantastic film, and never giving up on that dream even as everyone else involved pointed out the obvious wrongness of it all to him. Plus he's actually being paid to make a second one... How sad is it that I will definitely see that movie?

This movie has some of the worst audio I've ever seen in any movie, ever. They clearly had to dub in some audio that their equipment didn't pick up at times, and it's some really out of place dubbing.

I liked the riff: It's good that his rifle is loaded with 300,000 rounds.

Also, Mike's suggestion that Nathalie walk back towards the motel room window in her underwear.

I've seen this movie six or seven times and I managed to pick out a few details on the big screen:

- Tippi Hedren's three-second apperance before Rod and Nathalie get it on (she's on the TV behind them, looking at a birdcage or something?)
- The way Rod fires a revolver like he's aiming a stubborn remote control at a TV
- The fact that they somehow run out of food hours after raiding a grocery store

Really, Rod's boss seemed like the only legitimate actor in this whole thing. Oh yeah, on the HDTGM podcast the girl who played Nathalie said they were swinging coat hangers at the birds because the rods in the closet couldn't be removed. Also, her feet are black as night because the underside of the bed was reportedly filthy as hell.

Every scene where they were fighting the eagles was killer, too. The girl who played Natalie was clearly laughing her rear end off every single time, to the point where she had to cover her mouth while swinging a tiny wire hanger around. Amazing. And the vomit-acid-death-buslady was cracking up on the floor too.

Did they already have maggots on their faces too? It looked like they did.

Whitney Moore (Natalie) seems like a genuinely cool person. I'd love to see her do a Rifftrax Presents-type thing at some point.

edit: The podcast only confirms it.

The only other thing I've ever seen her in was that fantastic Death of Superman video that Max Landis (son of John Landis, and writer of The Chronicle) did. She played Batman in that. Yes, that's right. She played Batman.

I like how the birdemic lasted about a day, but they apparently went through a case of bottled water, a few large jugs of water, and then had to resort to drinking from the the creek.

Apparently, the Birdemic is supposed to last about a month. I suppose the birds were simply considerate enough to not attack at night or anything.

edit: After that first podcast with Whitney Moore, I had to download the one for The Room with Greg Sestero, and holy gently caress.

I never realized that at the end of the film Johnny is "pleasuring himself" with the red dress before he blows his brains out.:gonk:

One of the craziest reveals from that podcast was that for several weeks, the director refused to talk to her and gave all direction through her co-star. Also, that no-one had all parts of the script...

I imagine the actual script was like five pages long (not both sides of the paper), and that Nguyen just assumed it'd take as long to act out as it did to write. When it didn't he decided to fill in the rest with driving and parking scenes.

After talking up the Rifftrax Live to everyone I could for the last two days, a friend mentioned today that she had just seen Twilight. "Those MST guys ought to do that one," she said. I responded that they did, indeed, have one available, and we're now making plans to have a Twilight riff night. And one more is drawn into the Rifftrax web...

See, the impression I got was that the director didn't know that ADR was a thing and that you didn't have to use source audio for a scene. Hence, the whole thing sounds like the movies me and my brother made on the camcorder as kids, where not only is there background noise all the time but it also starts and stops with each shot because there's no sound editing.

I listened to that entire "How Did This Get Made?" podcast about Birdemic, and while there wasn't much info in there that hasn't already been posted in this thread, Whitney Moore (who plays Nathalie) said that the sequel won't have audio that drops out and other technical problems like that.

I had to stop watching Guy from Harlem because I was laughing so hard that it hurt to breathe. I've never gotten more than a chuckle out of a movie's fashion before, but that business with the nightgown almost finished me off. It accidentally built into a running gag with perfect comic timing. It is surely the only movie where the question 'where are you from?' could be so hilarious.

The recurrent theme song makes me want to see a Puma Man/Guy from Harlem team-up.

So what are generally considered the best of the best in regards to their selection of 'Blockbuster' riffs? These are the movies I'm most likely to own, outside of the Twilight saga ones because I couldn't bring myself to watch those in the first place.

Man, watching the Rifftrax of Birdemic was more expensive than I'd thought.

The movie itself was $12.50, plus the $27.50 I spent on concessions because I'm loving disgusting and now I'm about to drop another 10 or 15 dollars on the website with the discount code I received for attending the showing.
