I've always liked that they broke conventions and made a Japanese hero like Sunfire an unapologetic, sneering nationalist rear end in a top hat instead of the typical kowtowing coolie or stoic honorable warrior stereotypes. The whole turn to villainy bothers me, because it takes away from what made him interesting. He was heroic and even noble at times, but he was also an insufferable jerk who held most of his peers in contempt.
