Not sure if Any of the bands available on Rogers network will work with Wind. I ordered October 30th in the Morning, and Got mine on Nov 7th in the mail. Of course it is locked to Rogers, but you can get the phone unlocked for around $50. Might be worth checking out for those who are on another carrier and cannot buy the phone outright from them. So the Nexus 4 is ridiculous, and is going to make me get my first smart phone. Can I just get a simcard from any of the major providers, plug it in and get it working? edit: loving hell, i forgot how bad canadian cell plans are. I decided to actually read the OP, and checked out Telus, Bell, and Rogers. First of all, holy poo poo you guys have got it bad, especially for prepaid. Prepaid just gives you the right to use minutes, and the minutes are really expensive. Telus and Bell both want to charge out the rear end for data, but Rogers charges a "reasonable" $45 for 500MB of data, which would be enough for two weeks (that's usually what I use per month in the glorious homeland  ), but the footnote says it's only for social networking?gently caress, ignoring data, what would I do if I just want a burner phone so someone can get a hold of us in an emergency/if we have an emergency?

There definitely prepaid flip phones you can buy at Best Buy and Future Shop. Also, Koodo is just Telus, so their prepaid plans are pretty good and will get you good coverage. Virgin Mobile (Bell) is also worth looking into.

Yeah, Koodoo looks pretty good. $15 base + $25 data + $5 voice, that's doable. E: Virgin looks even better, $35, and there's a Virgin store 2 blocks from my hotel? But if I to use minutes or go over the 250mb data, do I have to put a few extra bucks in my prepaid account for that to happen, and then forfeit whatever I don't use when I leave? "Pay your way" is just their pay-as-you-go plan, for their monthly plans ask for the "pay before" option in store. Then you just top up your account each month to keep your account active. But Wind does charge $25 for a sim card though, so yeah they kinda rip you off there.

WIND doesn't have micro (nano?) sims for the nexus 4 as far as I know so you'll have to cut your own from one of their regular sims. It also has limited coverage outside Vancouver so unless you're spending most of the trip in the city you might want to go with koodo or virgin instead

I've been with Virgin Mobile for a while now. Renewed my contract about a year ago but kept the old phone (Samsung Vice) because hey, it still worked. However, now it's starting to crap out. I still have the opportunity to switch to a new phone, and I was wondering what the 2012 equivalent to the Samsung Vice is, in terms of durability/reliability. I only use my phone for texting and the occasional call. Don't really want any bells or whistles.

This is the third call I got from them. At first at thought it was a error because I don't owe any money. Here is the message they left. "Yes, this is Mr. Cole. We have your contact number regarding a matter in our office. If you would please contact us as soon as possible, it is very important. Our number here is toll free 866-421-4920, again that number is toll free 866-421-4920. I am require to inform you that this is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information obtained will be used for that purpose." All I have is a phone number no company name. I looked up the number and a bunch of people received the exact same message. It just looks like some kind of scam so I haven't called back, Plus I live in Québec their message is only english. It's weird. How do I deal with this ?

That's "Dynamic Recovery Services", a skeezy debt collector that does a lot of payday loan recovery. They like to spoof their caller ID to make it harder to screen them out. As long as you don't actually have an unpaid payday loan, you can ignore them. Some douchebag took out a payday loan and gave your phone number, and there is no point in trying to explain that over the phone to a collection agency because their job is to shout at you and threaten you until you pay up.

Great, so that's two calls to Rogers to order a nano sim and in which the CSR has profusely agreed they know the difference between nano and micro, and two UPS deliveries each with a micro sim. I'd call back to explain the error yet again, but I know they'll just end up sending another micro. edit: I'm honestly amazed the network functions at all.

So am I really losing out if I don't have LTE? I'm with Telus, and looking to get a new phone. I was thinking of a Win8 phone originally, but Telus is only getting the Samsung ATIV it seems. The best of the bunch (i.e. Nokia 920) is Rogers only apparently, and nothing can convince me to go back to that hellhole of a company. So that would mean getting it unlocked at $600. That's making the $300 Nexus 4 look sexy as hell. Given that I seem stuck with my 500mb a month (so its not like I can stream media over cell), will LTE really do anything for me?
