Waiting until 11a.m. for best buy to open so that i can get my wii u i pre-ordered. I'm at a Wal-Mart and out of curiosity I asked if they had it in stock. The cashier told me that I just missed it. Which I believed him when I saw the other person with one in her cart just casually. Man where I live the wii u isn't hitting the same excitement as previous consoles did before.

I think certain NintendoLand mini games DO require the plus. I.e. you need it for the zelda sword battle game, but not Mii chase. The OR wording on the back of the box is a bit confusing, but a Nintendo spokesperson recently confirmed you need it for some games.

Those of your picking up systems today, please report back on account creation for the Nintendo ID stuff. I'm sitting on the fence until I know for sure I can use a US account on a non-US system and get by.

I showed up at Target around 4:45AM. Someone was already waiting there in their car. Around 5:30AM someone else showed up and went and stood by the door. I figured I should get out of my car as well. At around 7:45AM, some Target employee came out to give us tickets. There were 20-30 people in line by that time. They got 9 black consoles, 1 white. I got my ticket for black. I picked that up, a Pro controller, and the new Mario Twins.

Is anyone else having issues getting their Wii U online in the first place? I've tried connecting it with my regular settings that work with all my other wireless devices (including my 3DS), I've tried disabling MAC filters on my router, I've set my router to publicly broadcast, and none of these will let my Wii U connect (not even recognizing the router, apparently, despite it being in the list of Wi-Fi hotspots around here). Hell, I even plugged in my Wii LAN adapter and that's not working. Edit: Managed to get it online using a neighbor's unsecured wireless, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the WiiU itself. Both the 360 and PS3 let me buy from wherever I have valid banking and residence, so I was really, REALLY hoping they would've reconsidered and let us do this with the Wii U as well. Netflix app works very well and I love how I can use the Gamepad to change settings on the fly. You can even have the video switch to your Gamepad in case someone else wants to watch something on TV.

Man. Was kind of hoping to be able to snag a non reserved one this morning. Went to the local K Mart(they got none), the local Best Buy(still had 2 basic sets, but I know i"ll be kicking myself in 2 months when the premiums are readily available), 3 Targets and 2 Wal Marts. Target had a giant roll cage with them locked up, but I guess they were reserved/presells. They told me they only had 5 (2 Prem , 3 basic) available for non reserved and they were gone in about 5 minutes.

I got Best Buy to match Toys R Us's deal on buy 1 get 1 40% off. Ended up getting Mario & Scribblenauts (which was on sale for 50). Waiting on reviews for anything else. After staring at the screen for a bit I'm half tempted to get Black Ops 2 or Madden just to play on it. I still have another black deluxe on reserve at Walmart. I guess I'll hope for scarcity!

I'm watching http://www.twitch.tv/hecqubus/ play ZombiU and I wish I could fit a WiiU and that into my budget. The entire stream has been full of quality highlights for the past hour(s). He just got infected for the 14th or 15th time (ie died) and he's still catching his breath from the five minute "oh poo poo oh poo poo oh no" session that led to it. Makes you wonder what that GameSpot reviewer was expecting, or playing like. (also Eurogoons, I seriously recommend importing US WiiUs. I'm quite sure that we will have to wait extra to get WiiEU releases)
