I'm looking at buying either a 27" monitor or 32" HDTV for use with a ps3 and apple TV it's going into a bedroom, and the viewing distance is approx. 3.4 ft. I'm having issues finding sub 1-frame input latency TVs, as most lists on the internet contain models no-longer available, I'm making an assumption here, but the UA32EH5006 looks like my best option for a TV. As far as monitors go, I've been looking at the AOC i2757Fh, which looks somewhat like an LG TV, and has AH- IPS panel, 2 HDMI inputs, or the BenQ GW2750HM which has better black and contrast levels due to an AMVA panel, but may have issues getting decent colour calibration with the onscreen settings, and may have a green push that cannot be corrected well. Any opinions regarding these options? I'm currently leaning towards the AOC.

Does anyone have calibrated settings for a Samsung S27A950D? It's a pretty awesome monitor but it also tends to have an Ungodly level of brightness out of the box, and most calibration settings I've used so far have been pretty meh for me.

I'm considering getting one of those Korean 27" imports for a gaming PC I'm building. One thing that I also plan to do is to mirror my display to the 1080p TV I have while playing games (a buddy and I practice Starcraft II by trading off ladder games and watching on the TV is much better than looking over their shoulder). Since I'll have to knock the resolution from 2560x1440 to 1960x1080 in order for the footage to display on my TV, how does 1080p look on these monitors? edit: I also want to use one of these mounts. Since those Korean panels have VESA mounts, I shouldn't have an issue, right?

Unless you get one of the ones with a scaler chip in it (these are the more expensive ones, not the $300 ones, and they also have more lag than the not-scaler versions), the answer is "like a blank screen." The non-scaler versions WILL NOT, as a general rule, take anything passed to them that's not 2560x1440. Assuming you do get a scaler version, the answer is that it'll look a little less sharp than normal if you stretch it to fill the screen, but it's completely usable, especially for something like SC2 where you don't really have a lot of very fine detail or text that needs to be read. The monitors do have VESA mounts, though on some of them you have to disassemble the stand to get at it. Either way, it can be done. Just kinda obnoxious on some of the particular models.

Your video card will scale to any resolution, a scaler is pointless. Just make sure you don't buy from dream-seller, they are scammers.

Yes, you video-card will scale to any resolution, but he's talking about running a mirrored setup, where the card will be trying to output 2x 1920x1080 signals. e; Apparently running split resolutions may be possible with UltraMon, but I haven't ever tried it, myself, nor am I sure how it would actually end up working in practice. The scaling happens after the mirroring, at least on AMD. I tried it and it works fine for me.

Does anyone have any experience with wall arm mounts for 27" monitors? Which ones are good? Do the arms make it difficult to keep the monitor close to the wall? Would a simpler pivot mount be suitable if I'm worried about keeping it close to the wall? This maybe outside of the scope of this thread, but I'm thinking about building a rudimentary standing station in my home office. The main two pieces being the monitor wall mount, and a wall-mounted desk surface that would hold the keyboard and mouse. Any ideas or recommendations here? I'm not too worried about adjusting the height since I would be the main user, but it might be nice to build in some adjustment if possible. Or maybe I should bite the bullet and buy a full pre-built standing desk.

If you buy one of the arm-type mounts (like an Ergotron LX), there is a problem with using it close to a wall and having full adjustability, since the arm itself needs to go somewhere. So if you want the monitor all the way back against the wall, you can't position it everywhere. I would imagine the MX would have a similar issue, even though it articulates differently. So I would go for a deeper desk (>30") if you're planning to do this, otherwise you might not be able to get the monitor far enough back to be comfortable. That said, having some adjustability is really great, you can change your posture throughout the day or move the monitor out of the way if you just need extra space.

Monitors are a commodity item, if you're not buying something on the higher end (120hz, IPS and worried about colors, etc) you can buy anything within your budget. e: That one has no VESA compliant holes in it. I would try to find one with VESA mount support. You might not care now, but in 1-3 years, you might want to wall mount, or desk mount with an arm or something. Probably a really silly question but I'm just paranoid of loving poo poo up: What do you use to clean your monitors? There's some crap on there that's collected over the years to my goony rear end  nature of eating at my desk and I'd love to get it all cleaned up.I have a Dell 3007WFP-HC if that helps.

FYI to all Ausgoons, Dell has the U3011 for $1189, save $510.. Pretty crazy! Also, what is the deal with this monitor? http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=au&cs=audhs1&l=en&sku=210-41183 It seems a bit weird that its 1080, what would the uses of such a monitor be?

I'd guess it's mostly for daytrading, or serious edition/work that requires a lot of real screen state. I'm curious about how it'd work with RTS or FPS games that scale horizontally.

Are there any 10.4" or smaller touchscreens with dvi in worth looking at? I need something small that I can put on a 12v circuit without the need of a big inverter and was looking at car mountable screens but none of those seem to have dvi in and they also seem like they aren't easily detached from their mounting. I want something I can put in my vehicle but also easily remove and take into a tent when going camping and run off solar batteries.

I think it is priced appropriately and I think it is definitely better for specialist applications. edit: The korean monitors, while physically smaller, have 33% more pixels than that monitor AND cost half as much.
