Yeah, there was some talk of Hussie just rewriting Homestuck into a novel format instead of just publishing the panels with clever author dialogue. Largely because of the increasing dependance on flashes, but also because he repeatedly called Homestuck a "unfinished work" or something like that.

Sounded like a fun book and like MSPA, only more adaptable.

WINNERSH TRIANGLE posted:It would be kinda easy actually - you'd just go all House of Leaves on it and get creative with the usual fixed elements of typography/book layout (page numbers, headers, etc). The only thing you'd really have to worry about would be the margins, but it wouldn't cost that much more to print up to them. Heck, if it's a color book, you can glitch it up by deliberately unaligning the color plates. Here's an example of a comic cover on which one of the color plates was unaligned with the others. You can see the blueish outline is shifted away from where it should be. Doing that for all plates result in the printed paper equivalent of a having all the components tumbling around haphazardly.

No Caliborn, stop. Stop breaking MS Paint Adventures. Also, everybody is going to feel really silly when Caliborn accidentally drops the crowbar on his foot and wipes out his own closed time loop, thus resolving the main conflict by default.

I wonder how much meta-truth there is in Hussie's dialogue here. For example, he claims to not know why Gamzee made Tavrisprite. Did Hussie do that bit of the story because it amused him and with no plan, at the time, for why that particular bit happened? Just came up with a good reason after the fact?

The part where Caliborn is hitting the console uses weaker binding glue, so all of those pages start falling out as you read them.

Accursed Walrus posted:Lots of stills. It really does feel like the books are meant to be supplemental rather than a replacement. When you get down to it, Cascade really isn't that "animated". Go watch it and see how much stuff actually moves; by the nature of its creation it is essentially just a bunch of static images sliding around. Off the top of my head the most animated thing I can think of is Jade's arms going all wonky and spinning around as she holds the planets. And uh, I think that'd look better unanimated when you get right down to it. I don't think it'd really be that hard to translate it, or really many things in the comic, to book form.

A null session is definitely not a joke, and I have no intention of making light of it. And it can be a tough and emotional thing for players to go through, speaking from personal experience. And I know that it's often much harder on the players than on SBURB. However, I also know that it doesn't necessarily turn you into a sad, depressed sack of tears for the rest of the game. People can move past it, and heal.

SBURB OST is finally out guys! I was away from my internet when the initial planning for the album was being done so I couldn't be a part of it, but a ton of my friends and fellow Homestuck fanmusicians, many of whom were on coloUrs and mayhem with me, were, so you should all give it a look-see! Also, one of my fan musician colleagues is planning to play through the entire album on Audiosurf and stream it on Livestream at 8:30 EST.

The update is reminding me of Jack's tendency to hulk out and smash things without even trying to figure out what they do. And of course Kris Straub's older comic Checkerboard Nightmare was built on fourth wall shenanigans.

Caliborn continues his roll of being the best character. I don't know what's so entertaining about his petulant, adolescent enthusiasm for loving things up, but after all these flawed and complex players it's almost refreshing to have one of such cosmic narrative importance that just wants to kill things. This is a universe of complex rules and personal journeys and Caliborn just has no time for your puzzle poo poo. Plus it's always nice when someone gets frustrated at the arbitrary rules sburb operates on.

Man, I hate to admit it, but I was as bad as Caliborn when I was a pre-teen. I'd get a new game that required puzzles, and the first thing I'd do is buy the Brady guide and follow it to the letter to get the optimal path. Never figure out anything for myself or go into any optional areas that didn't have rewards. It's really the worst kind of person to have playing your game.

Never stop, Caliborn. Just keep right on being adorable and childish. I had a feeling that planet was gonna turn out to be future-Earth. We can probably surmise that it was relocated by Jade at some point, but I wonder what necessitated it?
