JP21 cables are much more of a pain in the rear end to find than SCART cables and it'd be annoying to have to mod every cable you buy. So, how many of us does this make now? There's me, Hamburglar, now fatpat268, and I could swear there were a couple other people in the thread with XRGB minis.

I really want one someday, but gently caress me, that's a lot of cash. I wish I had it to burn, but I am hilariously broke right now. Not that I could normally afford $400 on something to make my videogames prettier, but my car ate itself this week, so yay new car shopping two months ahead of when I planned to when I'd have my bonus to, you know, actually pay for it. In light of this, enjoy your crudely extracted kidney, secret santa partner who may or may not be reading this. I'll draw a Nintendo logo on it and call it promotional material for Dr. Mario or something.

Edit: Also, I'll be putting up some more stuff on SA-Mart soon, but I figure I give you retrogoons first dibs on two of these things if you're interested. Tetris Battle Gaiden for $30 shipped Legend of Zelda Links Awakening $12 shipped These'll go up tomorrow (probably) on SA-Mart, but like I said, anyone in here has first dibs. fatpat268 fucked around with this message at 19:03 on Nov 28, 2012 |

Miyamotos RGB NES posted:The best thing I ever learned about a multimeter is the "continuity" check thing it has on it. The digital audio mod for the SNES is incredibly difficult, partially due to the soldering points being so ridiculously tiny and close to one another. I just followed the pin using the trace to one of those little holes (whatever those are called) and used a multimeter to make sure I was soldering it to the right place. Those little holes are called "vias" as in they move signals between the different layers of the board via the holes. PTH are another technically correct way to describe them as vias are almost always plated through holes. In expensive high-end multi-layer PCBs with certain mechanical requirements (like hermetic seals), sometimes you'll have blind vias which don't penetrate all the way through the board, but those are uncommon on most consumer goods. brian posted:Man I can't wait for my arcade cabinet to get here, I keep buying far too many arcade boards while it's getting its monitor chassis refurbished Oh man, Third Strike is totally my favorite Street Fighter. One can easily argue that it's The Best street fighter too! I know I'm a bit of a rarity in this thread for liking remakes and not really caring about original hardware too much, but the Online Edition of Third Strike on PS3/360 is super fantastic if you're looking to play the game. I played really frequently about a year ago and now I go in every other month or so for an evening to get absolutely wrecked by the only people who play Third Strike: the Japanese and crazy hard-core American fighting fans that I can barely stand a chance against. In summary, Oro supremacy! Speaking of cabinets, anyone have any suggestions on how to go about purchasing an inexpensive cabinet? Ideally I'm looking for a two-player Astro City form factor that I'll be using to house consoles. So I'll be replacing the monitor, controls etc so I really just care about the cabinet itself.

Recently got a good deal on a Sharp TwinFami Black Model from a guy currently in Japan. Just need to find the good FDS games for cheap now... I had fun checking out the insides and just making sure everything was nice and clean. The controllers aren't as good as the original fami's(in my opinion) but they are fine. I kinda wanted to take the controllers off my broke AV-modded Fami and replace the Twin, but It felt wrong to replace it with a different models parts.

Yeah i'm one of those 3rd Strike super fans, to the point where most of the fighting game gang on here make fun of me for it I bought the cab primarily to play 3S, there's some key timing differences between arcade and 3S:Online Edition that i'm not a huge fan of and playing it on arcade just feels so much better. I'm getting a JAMMA converted Naomi sit-down candy, looks a lot like a Sega New Net City. As for getting cabinets, I'm in the UK and in general the best places are arcadeotaku.com and jammaplus.co.uk, in america I believe Neo-Geo.com's Zelda Doll Trading Forum and Shmup's trading forum are the best places to look but candy cabinets aren't generally cheap anywhere (although in california they tend to be the cheapest that i've seen).

A package has arrived! Surely it's too early for Secret Santa, but I'll tell you what. It's from incredible goon Pope Crunch He charged a very fair amount for it because he wanted it to "go to a good home" rather than be flipped on eBay I gotta say I subscribe to the same motto. This is so, so excellent because though I am not a big collector of SNES boxes (only because they wear out so easy) literally 3 of the boxes I always wanted were a part of this: Super Metroid, Illusion of Gaia (my favorite), and Final Fantasy 6 (my literal favorite game of all time) but I was too broke to buy it. And I only recently wanted the Super Metroid and IoG ones to go along with my big boxes of the same game (though it's called Illusion of Time in Germany). May Baby Jesus bless you this Christmas, Pope Crunch. Also I am going to up my Santee's gift even bigger this time around just to keep the warm fuzzy feeling going.

iastudent posted:Surugaya-a-too finally got back to me on my Rakuten order. Unfortunately, there were several games on the order confirmation listed as out of stock, and with them missing they put my order under 10,000 yen so there were shipping charges added on as well. I replied to the order email asking them to cancel it, but then I got an email back saying this, according to Gmail's translator: Make another order before you get the 'last notification' for your first order and they will (eventually) combine it. I would ask them if this counts for free shipping. Also, just in case--if that email wasn't a reply to your email to them, that's just the Japanese confirmation email (they send two different ones, why I do not know). You are not charged until they are ready to ship, after you have confirmed your order.

Where do you obtain the game cases that people are using for making the "collector" cases up on ebay? I don't want to pay 10 (before shipping) dollars for a custom case if I can get the base case and do my own printing for the cover. The game or the kitty? I wish I had more retro game stores around me. There's only one relatively close by and it's still a 45 minute drive (People Play Games by Wrigley Stadium), and his prices aren't great. Good but not great, not completely awful. Plus 90% of what he had was NES and Atari, very few of anything PS1/N64 era and newer.
