Lord Tywin posted:How do you unlock it? Type your deluxe CD key into the box that appears when you select Extras > Exclusive Content. Keep the dashes. If you're alt-tabbing, make sure you're doing so in a way that doesn't insert tab characters into the box. I had to try a few times. Also, Uplay has to be online; you can't see the Exclusive Content menu item otherwise. I'm not sure if Steam being online makes a difference, but I had Steam online when my key was accepted.

Goddamn I'm in love with this game. I feel like I'm still in the tutorial missions and I've spent at least five hours mostly wandering around hunting, discovering poo poo and driving like a complete rear end in a top hat. This game is the best.

Does this game do environmental storytelling in line with a Fallout 3/NV or Skyrim or is it mostly locations in which to shoot dudes which might have names or back story but are mostly there to provide interesting places to shoot dudes in like Far Cry 2?

Crossposting this from the Steam thread, I think my biggest issue with Far Cry 2 was every mission was preempted with a briefing that was along the lines of "Even though you are working for us, it's a secret so our guys will shoot at you too!" which was basically just a throwaway line for lovely AI coding. Did they fix this at least?

Instead of each faction having a specific FRIEND/FOE type system going on, they were all hostile, all the time. Even when the faction leaders told you that you were cool with them and on their side, their faction soldiers would still shoot at you. That's lovely no matter how you put it. For fucks sake...is there any way to skip the 30 minutes of abject boredom you have to sit through when starting a new game? [edit] Or can someone please send me a savegame where I can start after disabling the first radio tower? I really don't want to sit through all that crap again... Boondock Saint posted:Calm down. It's also very lazy design. This contrivance was also a decision that was apparently made early enough to get all the voice work for each mission set up to support it. And since we're also airing every little thing we dislike about the series, one thing I kind of liked about Far Cry 2 was being able to select from a variety of characters from different races and countries (though not different sexes). In 3, it looks like you're a generic white guy who gets some sick tats on his arm. As Greg Proops once said, "The problem with baseball is that all the players are named 'Justin.'" The problem with video games is that there are far too many main characters named "Jason Brody."

I like how much Far Cry 3 drives home the fact that you are in a pretty dangerous world where you can die at any moment. On the higher difficulties it really builds a lot of tension. Sometimes the 4th wall is broken though, but overall this is a pretty immersive first person shooter. One thing I hate though is that at the start of the game you can only carry 1 weapon at a time, but it looks like you can unlock 3 more weapon slots as you progress.

That's gone but you can still repair vehicles (once you get the tool) and fix horrible injuries the brutal way if you don't have health kits.

Jason Brody and his friends were just spoiled generic rich kids without a care in the world whereas Brody's oldest brother, a former soldier, came along to watch out for his two younger brothers. Then, all hell breaks loose and Jason steps up. Regardless of whether the tattoos are magical, he finds strength and courage in the Maori people and culture. I don't like the contemporary "tribal" tattoos though. Every muscular white guy with spiked hair in suburban California has those tattoos. They should look more ancient; they should draw inspiration from traditional Maori body art.

I guess this game should be best plaid when one is not high, since you have to get high in the game to understand the island or whatever. I can't wait to play that game. Maybe playing it drunk while high in the game will be a new experience.

So I don't mean to be one of those No steamworks babies, but how is UPlay? I've been relatively anti-Ubisoft but I did enjoy Far Cry 2 (bar the common complaints everyone had) and I'd like a fun singleplayer FPS. If I buy it off Steam, do I have to run Steam and UPlay to play the game? That was one thing I hated about GTA4-- Steam, GFWL, R* Social Club e; Hmm, also does Green Man Gaming not have this game? e2; Weird- I googled GMG Far Cry 3 and found it, but their search bar isn't locating it Can't add it to my cart though. You need to run UPlay, but I think you can launch the game without Steam with gibbed's special shortcut. quote:"E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Far Cry 3\bin\farcry3.exe" -uplay_steam_mode -language=English -steam_mode UPlay isn't much of a big deal. You can set UPlay to offline mode, which is probably best, but you won't have access to multiplayer. On the bright side, if the UPlay servers go down, the game won't crash while you're hunting.
