Be careful with saving passwords in Chrome. An XSS exploit allows other people to easily intercept it: http://homakov.blogspot.dk/2012/11/xss-save-your-password-pwned.html.

This is a dumb 'attack'. If someone can XSS the login page, they could easily record your keystrokes as you type in the password.

e: Although I guess you could automatically redirect someone to an XSS page and use this. Still, it's not exactly the worst thing in the world. Any site that has this kind of vulnerability is going to get their passwords stolen anyway.

Did Chrome on Mac break for anyone else? I'm on a 2012 MBA running 10.8.2, and a bunch of dynamic webpages are now causing Chrome to freeze up, with the stupid little beach ball. Pages affected include Gmail, slickdeals.net, and workflowy.com. I don't know what they have in common, but it's damned annoying.

Incidentally this fixed itself - after I let Chrome sit for a few minutes it was responsive again and the issue isn't happening anymore.

Chrome doesn't have an RSS reader, it's consider bloat. Try an extension.

I've been using RSS Feed Reader, which gives a you a dropdown menu of feeds along the lines of Firefox's Live Bookmarks. The most recent update syncs with Google Reader, too.

Using the space bar instead of tab to activate a search engine avoids this. Also note that you can configure the search key to be anything you want. I use two letter keys for everything.

I'll check them out, but I was under the impression that RSS extensions are massive memory hogs. Any truth to this?

On that note: I just started using pinned tabs (:corsair:) and was wondering if there was any way to make them static (i.e. Not allow you to accidentally put anything into their address bars or close them)? Or, at the very least, not make them in-focus when Chrome starts.

As much as I like the convenience of having it as a drop-down, I'd say that's a pretty fair assessment.

I use a different RSS extension, and it isn't nearly as bad memory wise.

Of course you can get 8 GB of RAM for $40 now so who cares how much RAM Chrome uses? I do, at work our computers are just starting to get 4 GB of RAM. I just use my tablet and phone to browse the web at work though. :)

I'm pretty sure not visiting dodgy porn sites prevents LiveJasmin with roughly 100% effectivness but depending on your...resources...I suppose it may be a case of the prevention being worse than the affliction.

I use this - lets you use any string of text to replace anything else. Not an extension, but definitely works for what you're trying to do.

Before the revamp I used the clea.nr extension which was brilliant as it got rid of drat near everything except the video itself, very sleek and clean, but the Youtube revamp broke it and there hasn't been an update yet. :(

As I understand it each tab in Chrome is sandboxed, however I've had the entire browser freeze due to a plug-in like flash crashing. Are plug-ins not sandboxed or am I misunderstanding how sandboxing works in Chrome?

How do I get rid of the Google Chrome remote desktop extension? I uninstalled it weeks ago but it's still running in the background and connecting to something under the name "remoting_host.exe".

Also, for some reason it's looking at an ico file in my Steam directory and a file in Google Drive. I've noticed other programs will sometimes do this, why do they need to go poking around in other directories? Steam does not poke around in the Chrome directory, leave Steam alone Chrome.
