Has anyone listened to it yet?

Is Adam all Libertarian "kiss my rear end" ranty and Drew extra preachy from fame?

Or have they gone back to basics?

Boy, I think it's about time I tell you the difference between a man and a woman. A woman isn't a woman unless she's pretty. And a man isn't a man unless he's ugly.

No this is Chris Loxamana or whatevs, the Filipino sensation.

Dr. Drew has been doing a weekly appearance on Adam's podcast for the last few months, he set out to make his own show and they (amazingly) realized that Adam should also be a regular part of it to try to rekindle that flame. Beware that Adam has become more insular and crotchety now that he's had a few years to stew in his own empire, and is a bit disconnected. Expect a shitload more uninformed political and social rants with less dumb teenagers to direct it towards something positive. Still, I'm hopeful, let's cross our fingers that they'll get into a groove

I listened to it last night.
It just isn't the same. Adam and Drew's personalities have changed so much since Loveline. Adam is trying to be a comedian, so he goes on forced rants about stuff that he has ranted about countless times before. During the Loveline years, Adam was realatively new to the industry and everything he says sounds fresh and off the top of his head. Now even the way he talks sounds like he just doesn't give a poo poo and just wants to make money.

I was a little disappointed as well. Even Drew is seeming to mirror a lot of Adams over the top rants and opinionated personality. One of the things that made the original loveline so funny was the contrast between the two and that seems totally gone now.

I liked it. The cursing was a bit jarring and there were only a couple calls but it was definitely a lot more loveline-like than anything else has been since Adam left the show. I'll definitely be sticking around and I hope they make more episodes regularly.

The rush is on.
They just need to let the discussion flow naturally from the callers. Neither of them was ever good at creating material, so they find themselves with the opposite problem of Loveline: they need to take more calls. Adam is hilarious when it's natural, and grating when it's forced. I haven't listened to the second episode yet, but hopefully they actually take calls.

I definitely agree with you about letting the topics of discussion come from the calls and therefore be a bit more varied, as well as providing a natural end when it starts to drag.

I've listened to both eps, and I like it but it's not as good as real Loveline.
Being just under an hour probably helps, to be honest.

The beauty of being on nationally syndicated radio in the 90s is that most teenagers just viewed you as some sort of public service. Anyone with a radio who tuned in regularly during your airing hours was probably aware that your show existed and to some extent a lot of the best Loveline callers are not even fans but just people who have somehow been made aware that this is a helping program and call in blindly.

Which is not to say that they can't recreate some good times with more callers, but I'm not sure they can recapture all of the magic. Good times...

Yeah everyone who would call the podcast would already be a seasoned fan of some sort, which is not very entertaining. Granted a lot of moron callers claimed to have listened for years, but there is still a difference between casual free radio fan and subscribing to a podcast.

I loved the callers who acted like Adam and Drew called and bothered them.

Maybe they should broadcast in Canada or the UK for fresh callers.

The problem with the Adam and Drew Show is that Adam is incredibly lazy now and just opens up one of the tired canned rants from his podcast and doesn't care about taking calls or being funny on the fly. The first episode literally started with 30 minutes of the exact same rants we've heard before on the AC Podcast. In the early Loveline days Adam had to be funny and creative or else he'd get fired and then it's back to construction. Now he's a millionaire (literally) and just wants to take in the sponsorship money while doing as little work as possible. That being said the Adam And Drew Show is a million times better than his regular podcast because it doesn't have Bald Bryan on it playing the same 5 unfunny drops over and over again.

Adam's humour now is very forced. He always takes his jokes one tag too far, and it ruins it, or he repeats his punchlines multiple times like no one heard him.
When he was on Loveline he had to be careful what he said, due to censors, but now he just resorts to saying the most crude things with lots fo cursing.

Hey, I heard Adam talking about something about cops writing tickets today. Man, what a bunch of clowns, you tell them Ace man!

Honestly, I can't listen to ACP anymore because his same rants and jags are too forced and he's just mad at the world and "bootstraps" mentality now a days. Hearing him rant about how his gardner left the rake out in the backyard again gets tiring after a while.

I do love Ace on the House though, Ray is one of the few people that can make Adam shut the gently caress up and put him in his place sometimes. Plus they have the best stories.
