Kind of a dumb question but I've been unable to find a solution. Is there any way to turn the gamepad screen off while playing netflix movies? It seems kind of a waste to have it open if I'm never looking at it.

I didn't do it until last night, and it didn't preload for some reason; guess it only does that powered on. I ended up not getting to play anything that night, other than the "gently caress this poo poo I'm buying a USB LAN adapter and 5 port switch on Amazon" game. Figured it was a good idea anyway considering I got that 2 TB HDD in anticipation of not buying a bunch of discs.

Ok so this is hopefully a dumb question, but googling didn't help me. I just noticed that my gamepad isn't giving off any sound. I checked controller settings in the home menu and couldn't find a volume setting. Can you actually turn the gamepad sound off somehow or is it busted or something? EDIT: I'm an idiot! There's an actual physical volume slider that someone must have slid down to mute! I got to try the Rayman Legends demo today while I was out and about. I was not expecting Black Betty to start belting out while running through a castle in time with the level  . If that's the standard for the rhythm stages, I can't wait to see the whole game (That said, the Murphy level was horrible).

It's really weird how the UK demo units only allow you to play Rayman at the moment: a game which isn't even released until next March over here. The rest of the demos are just video trailers or static images. Why isn't there a playable Mario demo at the very least?

Does anyone know why they couldn't have just written a wrapper layer that rests on top of Wii mode and presents the Wii U peripherals as Wii ones? They have to be doing something similar as the Wii didn't have an HDMI port and couldn't output above 480p, so there's got to be some kind of display hook which you could use to output to the gamepad. And you don't need to resync anything so there might already be an input hook. The hardware is physically there so it's not like you need to emulate it, just present the peripherals as wii ones/hijack the framebuffer. There has to be some way to improve it as it's kludgy as hell right now.

I forgot this came out in Japan over the weekend. I had read they were getting,TVii on Dec 8th but I haven't seem any information or impressions from it. It's probably somewhat irrelevant given their much different streaming services and cable setups over there but has anyone seen any impressions or videos of it in action? I'm really wondering when it will be out here, this was one of the selling points to my wife.

Okay, someone was asking for gameplay footage and such from Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate now that the game's out in Japan a few days ago? Well here you go, some Japanese dude is streaming it right now on NicoNico. The guy's getting thousands of viewers whenever he puts the stream up, 99% of which I am assuming are other Japanese dudes trying to get a read on the game to figure out if they should buy a Wii U for it. Since the stream is on NicoNico, you may/may not get kicked out randomly while watching the stream due to "heavy server usage" and I'm unsure as to whether or not you can even watch it without an account. At least NicoNico now has an English language site! If the stream is over by the time you read this post, then you might want to poke around later. He seems to be doing multiple streams, inviting players to join him as he plays. That being said, I think it looks pretty cool even if the streams seems to be in low quality. I'm a bit confused as to why the inventory usage stuff is still on the main screen and NOT on the GamePad. You'd think it'd be easier to tap the Whetstone or something rather than work the L trigger.
