Chie and Yukiko's relationship is teased significantly less than Kanji or Naoto, so I don't see it extending much more past what's presented in the game. I could be wrong, though.

Technically, that's the ENTIRETY of the TV world, some sort of astral plane that represents the unconscious including all the dungeons and stuff. That said, I'm not 100% sure Yomotsu Hirasaka is in that world...

I don't think there's really more to it than that. It's the collective unconscious, which manifests itself as the underworld because the antagonists argue that everyone has essentially given in to meaninglessness and isolation and existential fog, or the death of the spirit.

Well yeah. I think part of the point is that she's projecting her own feelings onto everyone without actually being able to support that notion. Which would make it pretty much the same thing as all the other dungeons, except it's portraying the subconscious of a goddess rather than a teenager or little girl or serial killer.

I'd never really looked at it that way. That's kinda neat.

I think the game handles that stuff about as well as it can in the context it takes place in, though I feel like there's a weird thing going with Naoto's story where the game is just as confused about whether she's transgendered or simply pretending to be more masculine for the sake of appearances as she's supposed to be.

I think it's important to mention that there's a lot of "eww gross gays" type dialogue from Yosuke, and it's actually integral to the construction of his character. He's a quintessential teenage boy, and he's clumsy: on his feet (the bike/trashcan), with women (Saki), with stuff (Chie's DVD), and with other peoples' feelings. When he freaks out about Kanji staying in the tent, the player's supposed to be laughing at what an insecure twit he is, not sympathizing with him.

EDIT: Maybe I'm giving it too much leeway or whatever, but I don't really concern myself overmuch with whether or not the way any of the PCs conducts themselves is "positive" with regards to Kanji or Naoto. They're teenagers, and teenagers go through identity crises and have difficulty understanding the plights of other people, and part of the charm of the game is that it constructs its characters fairly realistically instead of having them be authorial mouthpieces. I mean, the game is essentially about how self-denial will gently caress you up inside. That's a pretty queer-positive central theme.

Yeah, I can get past a lot of the games confused presentation of sexuality and gender by reminding myself that the characters are in their mid-teens. I didn't have any of that poo poo figured out at that age, either, and there's plenty of time for them to find themselves beyond the scope of the game's story. And it's not as if the game suggests their "selves" at the end of the year are set in stone - it emphasizes that change is on-going. Which is true, and cool, and one of the things I really liked about the game.

All of Yosuke's lovely remarks actually made me dislike him for awhile. It would have helped if the game was written with options for you to tell him to stop being a baby about it. I almost couldn't stand the game implying my agreement via silence.

On the topic of Naoto

Much like Kanji, I don't think sex or sexuality is really the focus of Naoto's character arc. Is it possible Naoto is transgendered? Yeah (I'm leaning towards no, but it's certainly possible), but her personal narrative is about dealing with how much of a dick society is about gender roles and people who don't neatly fit them.

Just like Kanji. Kanji's gayness or lackthereof is a red herring.

There are at least a few times where you can deliberately mess with his insecurities, like being really enthusiastic about the "Miss" Yasogami Pageant.

I've never seen the anime, but in P4 Arena anyway it comes off like that was the intended relationship between Yosuke and the hero. There's a running bit in that game's story mode where the protagonist keeps picking at Yosuke for his preference in jerk-off material.

No, just until 12/23. If you complete the dungeon on the 24th you'll miss an event.

I believe you have to finish the dungeon on the 22nd, to get the call on the 23rd, if you want that event. There's also a fusion event on either the 23rd or the 24th, that allows you to get a very good skill on a very good persona (Debilitate on Yoshisune). Thus you have to choose between the two, or you can have a separate save where you beat the boss before 12/23, so you can see the events.

gently caress that, fuse Trumpeter and get him to level 73 to get the skill card, then put the skill on the other guy (if you want to break the game in half, that is).

e: Or you can give the card to Marie for further breaking purposes, but it costs 200,000 yen to buy back so at least you won't be putting that skill on everyone.

Earlier in the thread it was suggested that on Easy and Very Easy, you can't fight the optional boss in a NG+. However now apparently in NG+ you can individually tweak things like exp and money gained after battles. Was it ever confirmed whether doing any of that affected whether you could fight the optional boss or not?

One of my favourite things in this game is taking all the ample opportunities to make Yosuke uncomfortable. Yosuke's a jerk and I love messing with him. Also, Kanji is amazing and I wish he was dateable. He can touch my ripped chest anytime. :allears:

February spoilers I love the ski trip scene where Kanji is teaching Naoto to ski. Though I wish there was more I could do to push those 2 crazy kids together.

Also, I love that the game gives you the option to tell a scary story that embarrasses Yosuke. It's the best.

The reason I ask is that I can imagine just going hog wild with the extra money on skill cards where as normally you'd be limited by funds. The optional boss being probably the best place to test them out as well.

To elaborate on what Rasamune said, maintaining the garden on any of the days before the last day before the vegetables are ready to be harvested will cut one day off the time left until they're ready. If you maintain the garden on the last day before they're ready to be harvested, then it'll double the amount you harvest.

If you have a party member with ma/sukunda, use that and the hands will cast masukujaka twice, stopping one of them from running. Other than that, I think it just comes down to luck (or killing them in one turn).

I have found that if you do not use Megido/Megidolaon on your first turn, they will usually not run. My strategy when farming gold hands was Mind Charge with MC and Naoto, then matarukaja with whoever else I had and guard with the 4th. Turn 2, two Mind Charged Megidolaons with the added tarukaja, fight over.
