http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1763206385/astronaut-moon-mars-and-beyond-the-nasa-mmo-online-0/posts this guy under the guise that nasa is behind the mmo (they just approved their name could be slapped on it at best, no real announcement from nasa) took 50k from people, then turned around and was bought out by another company, who in turn turned around and got funding from the government for 1 million to develop this nasa mmo which has had no real concept or beta published since the funding ended 1 year ago basically some dude just made like 400k just by sitting on his rear end and spitting bull poo poo for a year

see this is what's hilarious and what people don't get about how they just got horsefucked by this guy latest post from him: quote:Fair question. We plan to release a demo around December 14th, and in July 2012, we took the 50K and added 250K to invest from August to February 2013, and we need to spend about 500K from February 2013 to September 2013. It is however possible that an early beta will come out with the crafting tools and server, and I will give you an update as soon as possible. Incidentally we plan to release a "G-Ball" level in about March 1, 2013. As promised, the Apollo historical adventure is finished, and donors will get a copy within 2 weeks or so. "250K to invest" that means 300k has gone towards the actual game where's that other 700k + the merger bonus this guy took by selling the game to another company

dude's an entrepreneur and ceo who has been on ted yup, he's figured out kickstarter is breeding grounds for free VC & ceo bonuses see this right here is the problem with kickstarter it has nothing to do with these laff-tastic failures of campaigns that end miserably, there's no real medium in-between someone gets to realize their dream come true then realize nobody wants their lovely product, so it goes nowhere the smart people with money realize they can use it as a free means to have a business plan to present to real funders to make mad loving bank and poo poo all over the process in the meantime

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/michaellaine/space-elevator-science-climb-to-the-sky-a-tetheredquote:Michael has been involved with Elevator research since the 2001 NASA Institute for Advanced Concepts study. Michael manages a talented and diverse team from academia, government, commercial and military communities. Michael was instrumental in the creation of the NASA Centennial Challenges related to this idea, and years later, it was his former team-members who won the competition. Laine’s business acumen and management, coupled with his media, marketing and outreach skills have transformed this project from an obscure NIAC paper study to a real world program with tangible results. cool a former nasa guy wanting to restart his space elevator company. only NIAC was just a small-potatoes NASA granting agency that was a huge flop and folded in 2007, and the guy wasn't in NAIC, he was just a real estate speculator who went to a conference set up by another NAIC-funded guy. dont worry, im sure this guy is super smart and is exactly the sort of person i want building my scifi utopian project his own loving facebook posted:His high school GPA was 1.17 but at leats he has lots of media and marketing skills, including: italics, boldface, italic boldface, needless quotation marks, writing his initials then writing his full name, and five period elipses. his business skills include making poo poo up kickstarter posted:At our height we had about 60 university research partners, and somewhere between 800-1000 volunteers working on different aspects of the project. his own loving facebook again posted:At its height, LiftPort’s team was only 13 people. 36 funding levels. give the guy $10k and get 3 sexual favors of your choosing quote:THREE WISHES: We’re going to have a long conversation. In person. Probably several. When you feel you’ve heard enough, you may ask me for three wishes… and like a genie, if it is within my power to grant, I’ll do it. Is this a gamble? Yes, I’m gambling a lot! Is this a gamble for you? Not hardly. I know I’ve got lots and lots of stuff worth this price. But this is a value for value exchange; I’m not giving you control of the project, or all of our intellectual property or something else that is way out of proportion. It’s a trade; I’ll give you something worthy of the price you are paying. Why am I doing this? I have realized something as I’ve been looking at some of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns – that I wanted something that wasn’t on the menu… Well, here’s your chance. This space intentionally left blank.

Nearly anything you can do in a web browser, you can do in an mPrint. Possibilities include pulling data from a database, using remote APIs such as Facebook, Twitter, or Flickr, and parsing data in realtime.
