I don't have PM's Het so I'll have to continue this derail (for the moment). I mentioned this in the Techno/Tech-House/whatever thread and I feel it's relevant to this discussion: Problem is currently that some of these 'Super' genres encompass many of the smaller cross-over genres that have emerged in the last few years. For instance, Julio Bashmore. With our current thread structure, would he be UK Bass or House / Techno? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnigNbYVQJE How about this Duke Dumont track? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88D4cUb5kNo

I just found I might have to pull double-duty for a NYE house party I'm DJing and would really love some suggestions on dancefloor 'bangers' of the electro-house variety. Right now I'm going to start things off with some a 1997 hip-hop set before cranking things up to Stereoheroes and the like. Except now I have to maybe play for 4 hours instead of 2...

So here's a fresh EP (came out on the 20th) preview from Figgy, dudes from New York and has got a beautiful sound I hope more people head this way. The first three tracks are pretty alright but when the last preview came out, I had to get the tune cause it blew me away. https://soundcloud.com/symbolsrecordings/figgy-for-the-one-ep-smbl014 +a killer track that comes with a collection of tunes free! links on the page. https://soundcloud.com/figgy/stayed-forthcoming-broke-city?in=figgy/sets/set +a laid back tune that will keep you moving https://soundcloud.com/figgy/miguel-howmanydrinks-figgy?in=figgy/sets/set Blowdryer fucked around with this message at 02:21 on Dec 30, 2012 |

You might as well look at the beatport top 100 chart and then look at featured charts from producers and such if you want a quick way.

Then go into the mash up thread and grab the year end review mashup, break each song apart, and look for an electo house remix.

Just got back from Snowglobe Day 2. Madeon absolutely killed it. I saw him last year at the same concert and he is so much crisper on his transitions and flow. He had the entire crowd dancing so hard. It was my first time seeing Deadmau5 and it was amazing, but I didn't feel the same energy as I did with Madeon. It was still an awesome experience. Chris Lake was great but I was a little sad I didn't hear some of his more popular songs before I had to jet over to the main stage.

I kinda had a feeling DJ shadow wasn't gonna be playing dance dance music, but still I guess theres responsibility for both the venue to know who they are booking and the DJ to live up to his end of the deal as an entertainer. I mean I'm not into this set, but I understand his "dont book me if you don't know what I do" viewpoint.

I stumbled across that site and it has been a treasure trove of mixes. I cannot begin to tell you many mixes I have downloaded over the last few months via that site not to mention how many new DJ's I had never heard of with some killer poo poo. I sometimes cannot keep up with the volume of stuff that they post there but suffice to say I am not at a loss for music now. I have a 160 GB usb drive that I plug into my car which helped liberate me from satellite radio once and for all. I only had the account for Area 51 and Electric Area but mostly Electric Area for the shows. Either way, that website was by far the best thing I have found in a while for mixes, plus it does not cost a dime and you do not have to have an account to listen or follow download links.

I saw Kill Paris and Joker at Webster to celebrate my boy's 19th. Every Kill Paris song sounds exactly the same. Really boring to listen to producers spin their own poo poo for an hour when it's formulaic.

I almost got to see him in Toronto a couple weeks ago but the people I was going with all bailed at the last minute. edit - Signal is definitely my favourite from it.
