You silly '13 owners with your GDI and hood scoops. I'm still not a fan of the redesign, but I admit I'm biased to my '11. Did you/do you plan on getting it tuned? I can't whore for SFR enough: best thing I've done to my 3.8.

I didn't like it at first either, but it really grew on me and it looks a lot better in person. Couldn't agree more about SFR; my '10 had an SFR reflash and I definitely plan on going to them again.

Even though the blocked vents might be for looks only, it might be worse for cooling if you opened them up. Modifying aerodynamics is unintuitive, and opening vents on the hood, especially up closer to the base of the windshield, might not do what you think it would. I dunno, this is just a bat signal for DJ Commie to :bahgawd: about it.

You rang?

Yeah, the hood scoops would probably actually decrease cooling airflow, since the scoops would add air to a place that would hopefully get its air from the mass coming through the radiator. If you prevent that from working properly, the engine could theoretically not cool properly.

I have thought about Modding my hood vents too and plumb my intake there. Something about it being a negative pressure zone and actually starving the engine of air put the kibosh on that idea. I just let them vent hot engine air now.

What makes you think cooling your engine bay over and above what the factory cooling system is a good thing anyway? The poo poo in your engine, like the oil, other lubricants, sensors, etc. are designed to work at a certain temperature and while I doubt cutting holes in your hood would really make any difference either way it's not like a computer where more cool always == better.

kimbo305

actually, yeah, I am a little mad
It depends on whether the easy to remove hood vent covers are a nudge-nudge-wink-wink like power hobbling in 90s Japanese supercars or if they easy to remove because they were designed to be cheap to install. I would bet it's the latter.

I'm not cutting anything. The holes are already cut. I'm just replacing inserts.

We were at my father's place for Christmas, the lakeside sauna needed worming up and for poo poo'n'giggles we drove there with the Alfa. It is like 100 m from the house. It was something like -15C so it took a while the get it warm. Directions? Fly to Helsinki, drive 200 km North-East.

The other Alfa is there too. Hopefully with some upgrades before the spring: Brembo four-pots, 305 mm front discs, pedal-box, Megasquirt 3 with sequential injection and ignition, new plenum, injectors, fuel rail...

Sorry it's so late, the last weeks been crazy, but here's a little more on my Dart. I also apologize for bad cell pics.

Front end is my favorite.

Side kind of reminds me of a Neon. Kinda wish I got the darker wheels in hindsight.

I wish I could have gotten a decent picture of what the dash looks like at night. It's a serious improvement on my 2002 Honda.

The touch screen has manual controls underneath for most functions, even though using the screen is surprisingly simple, even while driving. The wheel on the right essentially works as an Ipod wheel if you have one plugged in. The cd player, cigarette lighter port, USB port and even an SDcard slot are in the center console so you don't need unsightly wires everywhere.

It's been a couple weeks and I'm still loving the drive. You can really feel the turbo when you're demanding torque. It doesn't sound impressive, which is nice if you don't want that. I'm already thinking of installing a new intake to improve the sound and add a little power to the stock 160hp/180torque. Apparently the turbo intercooler piping has a poor design (plastic, reduced airflow due to the shape) which I may replace.

All in all I'm still very happy with the car.

They had one next to the one I bought in that green. It had the rallye dark trim with the hyper black wheels, pretty different looking but I liked.

The other way round. The Dart has been out for couple of years as Alfa Giulietta. It will get a facelift in 2013 and may come to US also in 2014 along with the 4C?

In the future there will be platform sharing especially in the larger segments. Chrysler brings FIAT the economy of scale to the development of these segments it has ne er had. The plan is to bring out 3 new D segment Alfas and E segment Alfa and Maserati. The rumors talk of RWD. FIAT will concentrate on A, B and C segments along with commercial vehicles.

2013 Ford Focus ST3, I've had it for three weeks now, and I love it. First time I've ever had a new car.

Haven't really had enough snow yet (and probably won't, honestly) to warrant the winter tires, but I figured better safe than sorry. I'd rather not be caught out on the road in summers if a big storm hits. Plus, I drive north often enough that it's probably a better choice than all-seasons.

So after the hurricane took both cars and almost everything in the house, we went out and got new cars.

Here's my 08 C300 after the Hurricane owned us.

She had a base 10 Subaru Impreza that I didn't get pictures of, both cars were fully submerged in water. My 08 still have water in it 4 days later.

Here are the new rides -

Went and got her a really nice 2013 C300 lease deal. Freehold Benz were great to work with it, absolutely amazing car buying experience.

And now my 2008 Subaru WRX

2008, 44k miles. Bone stock - Factory Navi, not beaten or abused. 1 owner, extremely clean. Replaced the navi because I do enough driving where I need BT Audio. And of course, 3 weeks after I got it someone backed into me in a parking lot by where we are staying and I'm hoping to have the car back today after the $7000 worth of damage is fixed. I'll post more pics once I get the car back..
