At first I'd only intended to pop in and leave what may be the finest piece of Slam-jamming I'd ever stumbled onto here for the thread to enjoy, but now I've also got to say that you've made a mighty dramatic rendition of the ol' Barkley motif there, Haam. Get well soon, chef, and congrats again on the funding.

So there is sort of a new sequel to Shaq Fu game called Shaq Down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgX2IEkFemI Is this canon?

Everything is canon. Shaqdown explains what Shaq did after the cyber-apocolypse, he used his b-ball skills to kill cyber-apocolyptic zombies. It creates a rich tapestry of colors that explains how all b-ballers have amazing powers.

I just finished my first playthrough of Barkley 1 thanks to the OS X port and I'm bummed I didn't pull the trigger on the Kickstarter for 2 but also very glad to pay asking price on the day of availability. I'm sure you've heard this over and over again but you guys need to include a golf club weapon with an extremely low accuracy rate.

Yeah the whole canon joke is pretty played out at the moment. The little moments in B1 were funny by themselves, but the recent obsession with the concept is pretty tiring. Seems like a pretty lazy way to take a jab at another fun game that stars a basketball player.

The developers have specifically stated that ShaqDown does not take place in the same continuity as ShaqFu, and, as we all know, ShaqFu is canon. ShaqDown != ShaqFu ShaqFu == canon ∴ShaqDown != canon It's unfortunate, but that's the math.

The Giant Bombcast talked about Barkley SUJ: Gaiden on their most recent episode. Pretty extensively too, Patrick talked about it for like 10 minutes and really likes it. I don't know how many people listen to them but it seems like when they mention small indie games like Frog Fractions they always give them a pretty big popularity boost.

Case study right here: I knew about the game beforehand, but listening to this part of the podcast last night propelled me to finally shut up and jam. I already know I'm up for a good time as I spent a good minute or two laughing at the DirectX 10 joke upon starting the game. I know it was covered earlier, but is there really no way to increase the window size beyond the available options? I was hoping to fire this up through Steam's BPM, but even at 3x scale the game is too small to play off my TV.

Well mono takes a while to recover from, I'll probably have it for another month or so, but I'm doing a lot better than I was. As long as I'm not pushing myself too hard or anything I'll be okay. Like shortly after the Kickstarter was over, I thought I was okay so the ToG team went out and I got super drunk and the whole week after that I was dying. So I guess mono has a learning curve. Anyway, we're working hard on the game, I didn't go to bed last night (which I guess is contrary to what I just posted) and I think emails should be sent regarding rewards soon. We finished up the ToG game pack yesterday, the music pack has nearly 200 songs (I want to make it over 200 for vanity reasons I guess so I'm still looking for more stuff + making a few tunes for game pack stuff) and we have some insanely cool surprises in store that we can't really talk about yet.

I mean I'm sure you could still code but you wouldn't be able to cross any moving water and then you'd miss out on the cruise we're expecting you all to go on with this KS money. On a serious note, staying up late like that might help you concentrate on work a bit easier for a bit, but you'll probably suffer for it in the long run. While suffering can make for some good humor, I think we'd all agree you should only kill a small to non-existent portion of your crew via insomnia.

Hey Chef, I was wondering, what were your plans were for the Online Gun'ssharing System had you made that stretch goal? I only ask because it sounds like a cool feature and one that, depending on how the engine works, could be almost trivial to implement (although I've never used Game Maker).

There are two teams really. One is in DC/Maryland/Virginia - four of us are here and the others are in Canada + one in Finland. Brian and Billy are brothers and live together pretty close to me. I'm in their basement right now working on NPCs while Brian works on gun's and Billy is sleeping (he's sick too :(). The dudes in Canada are mostly pretty close to each other but they work remotely. We want to get them down here eventually to work together with them in person for a little bit, but that won't be for a little while. Obviously the Finnish dude works remotely. But yes, most of us met on an old RPG Maker website called gamingw that is no longer around anymore. We're not sure if we'll be able to get it into the game, but we'll try. It's not actually online. How it would work is that every gun has an ID or seed. You could copy the code for the gun's seed and send it to your friend. Your friend could then enter the seed at a gun'ssmith and buy it. But the gun's system isn't fully functional yet and this is a cool thing we'd have to add later. I could also see how this would leave room for exploitation once people figured out how to manipulate the seed.
