98 V70R...119k on the clock when I bought it. Dealership wanted $6k, talked them down to about $5.5k out the door. It's got some minor issues over the years but I've really liked driving it so far. Still dealing with speakers cutting in an out, I think it's loose wiring. Fuel gauge doesn't work so I go off of mileage and some other minor issues. But it's nice to have a wagon that can take off like a rocket when I want it to, hearing the turbo spool up is a lot of fun. Out in New Mexico, the 75mph speed limits give some room to run.

So far I've done some IPD mods:
wiper blade module
strut brace
HD end links
pcv replacement
bilstein touring shocks on the front

Just got a 08 Passat Wagon 2.0T FSI for the wife to drive as an Explorer replacement, i'd like to thank this thread for opening my eyes to the possibilities of a wagon because there is no way in hell we're getting a minivan until we have at least two kids.

Is it wrong to pull the MAF sensor on the intake so it codes while she's driving, so I can convince her I need to order "replacement parts" from neuspeed? :v:

Yes, it's wrong. You should rig it, so it suddenly throws DTCs while SHE drives is. Don't blame her, just promise her to fix the damage she's caused by her silly driving. Then order parts.

It's wrong as it will just convince her that all Volkswagens, and by extension all wagons, are unreliable and to never buy one again.

My 04 VR is in the shop today for timing belt/water pump/end links/ etc. 114k on the factory belt, the change is long overdue. The belt does look great though.

It's awesome that Studebaker could make a retracting roof in 1965 and make it look seamless and yet almost 50 years later GM can't make it look decent on that Envoy XUV.

Why do they have an "S" with 5% more power? If it'll output that with enough reliability for them to sell/warranty it, why not just sell that one?

You just answered your own question good sir!

They probably know if they hold back a tiny bit they can get some people to pay for it, and they people that buy this car can easily afford that. It's like free money for MB in a sense. The new E63 AMG Wagon is just at 11 already, it's like MB is giving you an option to have it go to 12.

My daily driver (hell, ONLY driver) is a 1994 Ford Escort LX Wagon.

(not mine)

I bought it used with 116,000 miles. It just hit 153k today. It's not the fastest thing in the world by a long shot, but it's dependable and still gets decent MPG. When I got divorced, I used to move about 95% of my stuff (probably 100 round trips).

One of my first roommates had one of those, same color and everything. He tore out the door cards and headliner so it was bare metal inside. Also he had those weird three-spoke MR2 wheels. He later traded it in for a PT Cruiser which was a significant downgrade in my opinion.

Edit: Haha. One night he was out of town and because we were 19 year old assholes my other roommate and I decided to do this:

It took a lot more boxes than we were expecting but we eventually filled that bitch up. A testament to the cargo capacity of the wagon.

Drove that through college and my first job, 1978 Chevy Malibu wagon in what we called Chewbacca Brown. 5.0L V8, automatic, 235-70 15s on the back, 195-75 14s on the front. Real-deal Chevy rally wheels with cop caps that are painted safety orange. Subaru high-back buckets in front. Yes, the rear door handles were removed, but my dad and I never got around to doing the rest of the body work. We did black-out all the trim on the windows, which amazingly never peeled off. Can't quite see it, but it had "The Wonder Wagon" on the tailgate. It earned the name by starting whenever required, even through a week of -30F temps. If the frame hadn't rotted to hell I'd like to think still be driving it. I do still have the wheels, although they are now green to match the color of the El Camino that replaced the wagon, which was in turn replaced by a mini-van, which was replaced by an LT1 Caprice.
