rich oddie - driftwork
niereich - flow velocity (perc remix)
pan pot & pascal mollin - the elephant (joseph capriati remix)
alex bau - darkhearts (ralph mirto remix)
spark taberner - kelder
niereich - black hole (dj danko remix)
rrose - waterfall
truss - osbasten
knobs - atavic (flex remix)
saimon & mezmeric - malatizio (spark taberner remix)
yan cook - murk
oliver kucera & carlos rios - tram 9
sam barker & andreas baumecker - a murder of crows (pt1)
niereich - mikado
ralph mirto - path (sasha carassi remix)
knobs - reality
nic fanciulli - lucky heather (dubfire remix)

It's kinda heavy. Gonna do a slow/warmup one this weekend. Probably end up darker though.

e: I cant believe that blawan/surgeon ep has 23,000+ plays after a week and it's not even out for another month. I don't think i've ever seen hype like that for proper techno.
The first track is amazing, but I can guarantee there are going to be some nights where it's played twice by different dj's.

Nice track selection. Do you play this out anywhere?

Not sure bout that hype machine. first track's great but the others despite having the aggressive sound are all missing something to me? Feel this particulary with Touch my skin or whatever it's called.

magda, make the tea
I moved to NYC a couple of months ago (edit: nearly 6, man that's gone quick), so i've only done afterparties & more relaxed things.
That mix was to give to a few promoters in the area who've been asking me for one, and there's a new night starting up in a couple of months which i'm going to be involved in too - I say involved, it's mostly being done by 2 people who know what they're doing and i'm tagging along for the ride. There aren't many small nights here doing dark/industrial influenced stuff apart from one-off's, so we're going to do it and keep it thematically consistent.

Lipstick Apathy

Not bad at all, I see what you mean by changing it up after the first couple of tracks. As mentioned before the transitions sounded smooth and overall consistent throughout. A lot of people do not like mixes that sound like one long track but I like em. It did not sound overly dark though but maybe what you consider dark is different than others.

No, sorry I should have clarified. I just wanted to share that mix by Anton Zap, an up and coming deep house artist from Moscow who is really, really good.

Thank-you for this! Helped a lot. I recorded a minimal set today and planned the tracks I'd use in advance, turned out to be one of my best mixes. Might post it up to get some feedback, but I don't really like the idea of flooding the thread with mixes. Though I guess that's up to AKP?

Content:

Jay Lumen & Gary Beck - Strange Fruit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TYTt2IKD4Y (tech-house at its finest)

Coyu & Edu Imbernon - El Baile Aleman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZKYHO3-o7s (Beatport's 9 year aniversary email recommended this to me)

Andreas Henneberg - Federweiss https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ss2ZgXHdKAc (this is a banger)

Hey thread, I recently played out and recorded a set I'm quite proud of.

I recorded this on an S4 running through a Xone mixer, and I used the Xone's filters for a lot of my buildups and sweeps, which unfortunately did not record. I used the Traktor filters when I needed to filter a single track, but otherwise my hand was on those sweet sweet Xone filters all night.

That being said, I had a wicked time, and I'm sharing that with you! Complete with managed levels and a tracklist with labels. Can you tell what my favourite labels are?? :)

Some old favourites, some new favourites, lots of acid, lots of techno.

I love a good techno set, thanks for sharing that. What a shame the Xone filters did not come through but regardless of that it I enjoyed listening to it. Once Plastikman, Lemon 8 and Green Velvet kicked in that sealed it for me. Those three are cemented on my all-time favorites list and Flash is probably top five all-time favorties across genres.

Those 3 tracks are some of my favourites of all time, especially Lemon8. The original red vinyl is going for $300 apparently.
I first heard Villalobos play it and that was right as I was really getting into acid and old school techno and it just blew my mind. I play it any chance I get and the crowd always freaks out and DJs are surprised its from '93. Timeless record, one of the only tracks with a true breakdown that I really enjoy.

I spend a lot of time in NYC, shoot!

There are lots of good parties, they are just more spread out than the more popular stuff. Also expect to pay money for some of the bigger names.

You're more likely to see a show at one of the bigger clubs rather than a warehouse, which is not everyone's thing. For example, Adam Beyer played Pacha last week. Fortunately the clubs all have killer sound systems but last time I went to Pacha I paid $14 for a bottle of beer.

The problem is their local DJs/producers are mostly moombahton/trap/dubstep/electro/not techno. So a lot of their really quality local shows and spaces cater to that crowd. If you're into the UK Bass stuff like Machinedrum, Addison Groove, Joy O, etc you'll find a fair amount of that too. House music is there too. Cielo has been doing mostly deep house.

Although there are a few people that are doing major techno events in warehouses. Like Blkmarket membership and Subfractal's new media platform De-Konstrukt.

Personally I love it. It's NYC! With a population density like that even the smallest party at the most unknown venue goes off. As I mentioned the clubs have wicked systems and DJs bring their A game.

I have friends and family there but I don't actually live there, so I apologize if there is something I missed or misunderstood but those are my impressions from the last 2 years!

edit: Night Slugs night last weekend was great apparently, pretty sad I missed that. But not exactly what I'd call contemporary techno.
