Fergus Mac Roich posted:I got the gifts and ratings you gave my pawn just today. You'd think that the townspeople would be more creeped out by those robes... Wow! That first rental was days ago, and I've rented her twice more since then. But the second time she fell to her doom as I chronicled in my Arisen's Log. The third time, which I assume you'll get in a week, I said she had a balanced beauty.

Falling to her doom is kind of a thing with DRAGONSDOGMA. She also mysteriously died to a cockatrice today despite being at 50-60% health with no status effects I also still have your pawn. She seems to survive everything, and also we match now because I am wearing the same armor as her.

Thanks a lot for borrowing my pawn! She came back with like 10,000 RC and I was super happy. I keep trying to update her and keep her leveled. She's almost a rank 8 Strider at this point with okay-ish gear I'd guess. My pawn and I are at like level 25-26 now, so I'll see about using yours next time I'm on. I'm just absolutely so terrible at quests unless they involve killing things. I'll be doing escort quests and then run into Ogres or Cyclops and you can guess what happens. Ran into a Golem once too and spent nearly an hour killing it since I stupidly left the last glyph on its leg with no way to knock it down.

I was about 10 levels above her and she kept up just fine, on the frontlines, no less.

I think the best strategy for them is just to load up with stamina potions and literally sprint the entire way. It seems to me that if you go fast enough the game will just keep teleporting your pawns and escortee to you in an attempt to keep up. I have occasionally lost an escortee, but a little backtracking usually reunites everyone. E: Don't forget to constantly hammer the regroup button. I am saving the Win Button classes until after I beat the full game once on this save. The plain classes are a visceral kind of fun. The special classes destroy everything.

Which classes qualify as special classes? I have felt like I have kind of destroyed everything since switching to Warrior(or whatever the 2 hander class is called). I assumed I just hit a point in the difficulty curve where the challenge started going away. Also, are there more dragons other than the last boss and the one near the Rest Camp? Spoiler doesn't contain plot information, just something that scared the poo poo out of me the first time I encountered it.

The two-handed class with reduced damage augments or whatever they're called is pretty unstoppable. I think I have 1800 HP and never dip under 1100-1200 in most fights anymore.

There are a few more that spawn towards the end of the game that are variations on the Devilfire Grove drake with different elements. And pretty much everything that isn't a starter class could be considered a special class, I guess.

Warrior is probably my favorite class to play as when dicking around. Swinging around giant spiky balls on sticks is so satisfying. And the jump attacks are surprisingly quick and responsive.

The jump attacks are great mechanically, though I feel a little silly when I'm standing directly under a gryphon whacking at its feet by jumping up and down

Fergus Mac Roich posted:Which classes qualify as special classes? I have felt like I have kind of destroyed everything since switching to Warrior(or whatever the 2 hander class is called). I assumed I just hit a point in the difficulty curve where the challenge started going away. Then you get the Advanced classes, Warrior, Ranger, and Sorcerer. Then you get the Hybrid Classes, Assassin, Mystic Knight, and Magick Archer. You can kind of think of the classes as having three main categories, with the starting classes as the beginning point, which can transition to the Advanced classes. Hybrid Classes are two classes mixed together. If you look at the various icons, they do something that's basically like that. For instance, the icons for Mage and Sorcerer are both blue. Strider and Ranger are yellow, Fighter and Warrior are red. Mystic Knight is like a mixed spell caster and fighter/warrior, so the icon is half red, half blue. The same pattern applies to the other class. I thought it was a neat touch. And yeah, the difficulty is probably going to start dropping right now. Don't worry, though. There'll be a point where it shoots back up and you will get hosed up by fire and lizards and lightning, all sorts of poo poo. You'll definitely know when.

I know that there's a post-game after the main quest and if it's not there or the final boss itself there's not much room for a difficulty spike. I've hosed up hella lizards in my time. Kinda expecting it to be the post-game. I may even reach it tonight if I get to play.

If anyone on PS3 needs a L25 Fighter, search by ID for Kirbysuperstar. I'll probably move her to Warrior, as she and I both just hit V10 (I'm a Strider, thinking of going Ranger), but yeah. Go for broke.
