Also, if you look up pictures of Tamara Brady (Aurora Attorney) and Laura Phelps (Sandy Hook mom) they're pretty clearly not the same. Especially the way Laura Phelps' nose is shaped. Then there's the whole problem of: why would the government hire a semi-well known public attorney to play a fake mom instead of an actress no one has ever seen?

Plus, I'm still fairly certain that image was created to make fun of the smaller image in the bottom left by pointing out someone else who looks similar and going "oh wow, look at that!" Unfortunately, it seems to have backfired and is now incorporated into the story.

First one, Mao banned guns in 1935 to kill millions of people. If you don't know, in 1935, Mao Zedong controlled a peasent army in a small area of China. Most of China was under control of Chiang Kai Shek. In 1937, the country would begin to arm itself to the teeth in a life and death struggle against the Japanese

Oh, absolutely it is. To preempt that, here's the full list of the 23 executive actions Obama is taking so people have immediate access to them for the inevitible "Obummer is ordering Eric Holder to come take my guns!"

Gun Violence Reduction Executive Actions posted:

1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.

4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.

6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.

7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.

8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).

9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.

10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.

11. Nominate an ATF director.

12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.

13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.

14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.

15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.

16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.

17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.

18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.

19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.

20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.

21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.

22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.

I am literally an island of sanity in a sea of lunatics. I know this isn't an email, but here is one special little gem that resulted from an email forward conversation:

idiot on facebook posted:

well, we only know what the media tells us. I'm not big on conspiracy stuff, but it's interesting that FEMA would have a session on "Planning for the needs of Children in Disasters" on the same morning of the shooting. The meeting was supposed to take place 20 mins from the school.I'm not trying to lessen the impact of this traumatic event but there are questions that need to be answered.

my response posted:

What are these questions that are so important, they must be answered-and decorum and decency must be completely eschewed in the process? In order to even remotely agree with your notion, we'd have to also believe an entire town was in on this coup and twenty parents willingly sent their children into the slaughter for the sole purpose of govt. control of the population through fear. That six adults were covert agents or at least spies, sent to prop up a regime. I'm going into this exact field: the criminal study of mental health, particularly when it comes to spree/serial killings. Do you realize how absolutely impossible it would be to cull out who was a victim or a perpetrator in this scenario, if as the conspiracy theorists argue "everyone is in on the con"? An impossible scenario is one that you can not reason back to..a good explanation must be logical in its explanation forwards and backwards. A school shooting with a mentally ill man who has witnesses attesting to his presence and mental history makes far more sense than the idea that families and community members could be paid off and agree to a death that would make them receiving such a reward impossible. This wasn't inner city Detroit, this community has no financial gain for participating in a fake school shooting. Newtown CT is a fairly affluent neighborhood and could just as easily have forced the govts. hand to extend them cash for charters. etc. Given that plenty of DC and govt. movers and shakers do not actually live in DC but instead come into the city from CT, NJ,NY and Baltimore, and have summer homes in CT, its more likely that they just happened to plan a centralized location available to all guests instead of making quite possibly the most obvious statement of setting up a planned mass murder, despite conspiracy theorists arguing that our govt. acts in the shadows. If these questions are that important they must be raised, then these theorists can start planning protests, not calling random citizens.

I know that was a long response and a ton of unnecessary effort..but...but...there was someone wrong on the internet!:qq:

13Pandora13 posted:

There is a lot of myth out there about vaccines. Thermosal isn't dangerous (ingested organic mercury doesn't do what inhaled mercury does and only a very small percent of injected or ingested mercury is absorbed at all; for that matter "dangerous" mercury is methylmercury which is NOT in Thermosal but IS in large predatory fish, which is why pregnant women are advised not to eat fish like Tuna and to supplement Omega-3 through chia or flax instead) but isn't in vaccines in the States anyway. Preservative in vaccines is VERY important - not that long ago there was a problem with some injections of spinal steroids not being preserved properly. The injections were contaminated and a lot of people got sick and some died from fungal meningitis (adults, not children, and not from routine vaccines).

I won't say vaccines are 100% safe because there are allergies to substrates and preservatives, but that number is very, very small and, as I said before, if a child has an anaphylactic reaction to a vaccine and cannot be vaccinated accordingly, if other parents are practicing responsible vaccination, those children will be protected by herd immunity.

Vaccines come in a variety of types, but they act by triggering an immune response, not by killing the bacteria/virus directly. An attenuated (live, weakened) vaccine (MMR, chicken pox, the flu spray) gives the immune system "first hand" experience with an infectious agent and allows it to build antibodies naturally without risking a full-borne infection. These are tested EXTENSIVELY to insure that the virus/bacteria won't revert back to "wild type" and become infectious again. Polio and Hep A are done with a dead vaccine - actual dead "bodies" are injected so the body learns to recognize foreign proteins and react to the disease without any infection at all.

Tetanus (and diptheria) are a little trickier - they're inert toxins, which is why you "booster" them - your body learns how to combat the toxin without risk of poisoning. This is actually why botox, in my opinion, is insanely dangerous - your body doesn't "learn" botulism like it learns tetanus, which is why it works/paralyzes/"relaxes" facial muscles.

Finally there's subunit vaccines. To minimize "wild type" or "revival" (some pathogens can absorb DNA from their environment and then, depending on the DNA absorbed, can revive an infection, which is awesome from a biology standpoint but not great from a medicine standpoint) risk, only parts of a dead bacteria/virus are injected so the body can learn the protein markers and build antibodies with no risk of infection. HPV, flu injection, pneumonia, Hep B, and bacterial meningitis are all vaccinated like this.

All of these vaccines result in a NATURAL response - it's your body that produces the antibodies, not the injection!

I hope this is comprehensive. If there's anything missing/any additional questions, I would love to answer them. Please vaccinate your children (unless they have an allergy to something in the vaccine class, and then please don't but make sure your friends do to protect your kid).

The first replies (from previously uninvolved people)?

Correlation is not causation. There is no proof that vaccines themselves eradicated certain diseases. Vaccines are not always targeted at populations most at risk. Newborns are not at risk for hep B...why are they given that shot hours after being born? I undertsand herd immunity, but it is not just unvaccinated kIds spreading diseases. Why are certain diseases referred to as vaccine preventable when the vaccine is not guaranteed to prevent the disease. Asking everyone to get vaccinated to ensure herd immunity puts kids at risk. Kids whose bodies can't handle being injected by eight different vaccines at 15 lbs and 4 months old. Are those 8 really needed at that time? And then again in 2 months? So are the immunecompromised more importatnt to protect? The point is, there should be more safety measures out into place. There should be more research done on why some kids have such bad reactions. REally, I have yet to read anything proving that smallpox was eradicated by the vaccine. Could you show where it is proven?

I explain to her how anaphalyxis works and the difference between mild and severe bee/peanut allergies as well as how smallpox was eradicated and how natural reservoirs work in the pathogen life cycle...

That is correlation, not causation. It can not be proven b/c there are too many uncontrolable variables. Granted, it is a high level of correlation which most see as "proof", but scientifically speaking it is not proof.

Goddamn it it's not possible to control variables, but it is possible to account for/acknowledge them. Diet and better water didn't eradicate smallpox because that's not how it's loving spread. Immunization "killed" it because it had nowhere else to live!

Here's a good article written by Dr. Humphries and herd immunity. http://www.vaccinationcouncil.org/2012/07/05/herd-immunity-the-flawed-science-and-failures-of-mass-vaccination-suzanne-humphries-md-3/

Do some more research on Jenner. He wasn't quite the saint that we have been led to believe. The book Sanctity of Human Blood is a good history read! So are we only suppose to listen to our government, scientists, and doctors who are pro-vaccine? What about the ones who are finally not afraid to speak about the vaccine reactions that they have seen with their own eyes. http://www.ebcala.org/unanswered-questions/inadequate-vaccine-safety-research-and-conflicts-of-interest

I tell her the "Vaccination Council" is not peer-reviewed science and is thoroughly debunked, which she replies with, "I personally know Suzanne Humphries, she is a good doctor and I trust her! :downs: "

The second link no poo poo says that vaccinating in third world countries is evil because it only prevents 25% of deaths and because 75% of deaths are still occurring vaccines aren't effective. I guess preventing polio is bullshit because it can't also alleviate starvation and political turmoil?

I know I shouldn't get worked up over this because some people will never change, but goddamn it these people are literally killing children out of willful ignorance. At least I got a couple to hear me out/get educated. :unsmith:

Just got this:

The deficit is ~$900b. "Saving millions" would be less than .01% of the deficit. Hell, we spend about $70b on incarcerating all prisoners, not just death row prisoners. If we literally killed every single person in jail, that'd take care of like 8% of the deficit.
It costs more to put a person on death row than it does to give them a life sentence and keep him there.
