Literally the first verse is "First they came for the communists", then socialists, then trade unionists. Jews and Catholics weren't even mentioned in the original text.

This is partly schools fault. In text book it always talks about his jewish policy but omits or just mentions in passing his policy towards communist, homosexuals, and Roma. God the Roma had it bad then and continue to have it bad now. No one in Europe likes them.

I do have an idea. I was in Bulgaria for a while and they fucken hate Roma. I was talking with a women who was really nice and we passed some Roma kids and she went off on how they were "bad people" and how they were destroying the country. No problem it is just something that is completely insane and really not talked about. Roma are some of the most marginalized group of people on the planet and it is a mixture of their desire to keep their own culture, people not sure what to do with them, and people being racist shitheads.

Oh ya that is right. In Bulgaria there are three major groups. The Turkish Muslims, Roma, and "Ethnic Bulgarians". The "Bulgarians" hate the Turks and the Roma, the Turks hate the "Bulgarians", and they both hate the Roma. Its such a nice place over there.

Who on earth do you hang out with to hear that in the USA? I've never run into anybody that hates gypsies in the States in all my life. Most Americans don't even know who or what they are really. It's just not on our event horizon here.

Where do you live in the US to know multiple people who come into enough regular contact with "gypsies" to have vocal opinions about them?

Americans love to pick up on racism and bigotries from other parts of the world. Hell, sometimes we even import it, as when anti-ginger bullying suddenly became a thing in the US after that South Park episode aired.

I don't even have an image of what I want to be. I have nothing. All that exists is zero.
It seems like most Americans who are aware of them at all would tend to equate the Roma with our "carnies". Nomadic entertainers, lots of fun to have in your town for a week, but the welcome wears out quickly and then they're on their way somewhere else. Most neighborhoods would not want them setting up shop permanently.

I realize this is incredibly demeaning to Roma culture, but it's the closest analogue I can think of that most Americans would be familiar with.

From what I have experienced living in the US my entire life, we have plenty enough racism and bigotry to keep people occupied without having to hate groups that don't even really exist in this country. I was just curious if maybe there was a region of the US that I have never heard of that actually has a gypsy population that would explain how someone knows multiple people who complain about gypsies. Like I can't even imagine an American unironically saying "filthy gypsies" because how would they have the exposure to even have that opinion? It's like an American saying how much he hates Aboriginals. Based on what?

Also I'm pretty sure anti-ginger bullying always existed, South Park just gave people new insults to use. Plus, you know, there are actual American gingers.

Fake edit: And I just noticed the post right before mine for the first time, so I'm not the only one who found the statement bizarre.

This is pretty much it. I've a few friends who've traveled in Western Europe, mostly the UK and Italy, and they weren't even victimized by "Gypsies" and sort of the rest of the friend group picked up on the bandwagon while I look on in horror. The worst part I found were the friends who haven't been to Europe picking up on the hate, while I have to point out these are things Nazis said, and its just crushing. Even more so is the fact these are people who view themselves as nominally left and its just awful.

Yep, people that play sports requiring playing in multiple states leads to some really inconvenient tax issues. Musicians have similar problems, but unless you tour every years it's not as bad. I can see why the feds would want to find a way to streamline it if possible, that current model is a bit of a headache.

That's also the first wiki entry I can think of that used an exclamation point.

The jock tax also violates the concept of "no taxation without representation". The taxpayer has no right to vote for representatives that would represent his/her interests with respect to being taxed.

So this isn't a new complaint, but couldn't it be said that I should be able to vote in a state after passing through and paying sales tax at a gas station or something? Also, these arguments are a bit absurd as long as we continue to not allow the people living in DC to have representation.
