I...I like the iOS port of FF4. FF2 was the first RPG I ever played back when I was a kid, so I've been enjoying the upgraded nostalgia. Only thing I don't like is that either I play uncomfortably for optimal combat (one hand on each side of the device), or play comfortably with slowed combat decision execution (left hand holds the device, right hand pecks at buttons) since the battle commands are on the left side of the rather long screen (ipod touch gen 5). Despite that I really love the port, it's much better than the old SNES version.

I really wish there was an option to left or right justify non-iPhone 5 optimized apps, instead of letterboxing. For "press anywhere on screen" games I keep tapping the black bar areas which doesn't work.

I don't know if there are many "find a word" game (RUZZLE, Scramble with Friends, Writer Rumble) players here, but we just turned on this Instant Opponent stuff in Word Carnivale. No more waiting for opponent or a turn. Start as many games as you want. I've played a lot of freemium games, especially these kind of card games and this was seriously the worst. If I had to recommend any in this genre I'd go for Fantasica, Blood Brothers or Rage of Bahamut. I believe a few people play the Marvel game as well but it seemed like a 95% reskin of RoB so I didn't bother with it for more than a casual days play.

Even though it has the final fantasy license it doesn't really do anything with it. All the classes are the same, all the abilities are the same, all the quests are pretty much the same (unlike BB it doesn't even have a map, you just push the advance quest button to move). And to top it off the game looks terrible and blurry on a iphone 5 and there's not a single sound in the game.

If, hypothetically, I wanted to get into one of the hundreds of freemium city building/business management games, which ones are actually worth a poo poo? Bonus if having a buddy can help you out. Already played Kairosoft games, NimbleBit games and Happy Street and I love those. Townsmen was also pretty good as well

Has anyone else who has played Punch Quest run into this bug? I tend to play it with a lovely connection, and so the scores can take a while to grab from GC. If I've gone and done other stuff--including start a new run--once the scores come back it immediately pops me back to the scores screen. This is only mildly annoying when I'm in the middle of the shop, and really annoying when I'm on a new run. Because it jacks the entire thing up and just stays at the open first door, with nothing happening. I really enjoyed the game until this kept creeping up. It's now getting really annoying.

It really shouldn't be as addicting as it is, but I find myself playing it a lot. Of course it's a freemium title that caters to whales. The game is good about giving you a regular, daily supply of potions and energy refills. It's completely playable and enjoyable without investing in any IAP.

I haven't played Blood Brothers but I've been having a little fun trying to play RoB and Marvel without spending a dime. If I were to recommend one right now and the poster in question was indifferent about the superhero theme, I'd say RoB entirely for the bazaar. (ingame auction house) The Marvel economy is really screwy right now, in RoB new players can level and sell cards for a decent starter income and make steady progress. We also have a shiny new non-Rage of Bahamut TCG thread in MMOHMO. It could use posts about the non-Marvel games for new players.
