Job Seeker Location: Detroit, MI (very willing to relocate within US) Education: Associates in 3D Art & Animation, Associates in Digital Design & Animation Experience: Most relevant to my ideal career was 3D conversion work I did on the latest Spy Kids movie at Speedshape. That consisted of using a combination of PFTrack and Maya to accurately model and animate scenes, so we could export object data for the Compositing Artists. After all the scenes were exported, our team was taught how to do the 3D Compositing with Nuke. I spent a few months in 2012 doing Ride & Drive tours for Jackson-Dawson. 8 years at my parent's drycleaners doing customer service, and making clothes clean & pressed. 7 years using the Adobe Creative Suite. Since early elementary school, computers and I have gotten along very well. It felt like no class moved fast enough for the rate I could learn new software. Requirements: Full-time, but will take part-time. When I can start: Immediately! What I'm looking for: I'm looking for a creative job dealing with 3D modeling, texturing, or anyting 3D really. I'd love to collaborate with other artists to create new vehicles, creatures, environments and bring them to life. Contact: tchncspz@gmail.com Resume available in Word and PDF formats.

Oracle, If you're not finding any luck in ME for teaching, start looking at the southwest (NV, NM, and AZ) there are usually openings there. I work in NM right now and that's how I got my first teaching job. Gonna tell you in advance though it will probably be a sucky job but it will get you exp. Some markets are just too saturated to get into without exp. I've got three years and a masters in admin and I'm still trying to get back to the midwest. Check the vacancies here: http://www.gmcs.k12.nm.us/site_res_...userGroupType=G They usually have openings all the time because the district sits mostly on the Navajo reservation. I used to have a thread about teaching on the reservation but you probably need archives to find it.

Oxphocker posted:Oracle, Teaching jobs for new teachers are a) Almost impossible to find in states that pay and treat their teachers well. The market is saturated because every teacher wants to be paid well for what is a very difficult job. b) Easy to find in states that pay their teachers terribly. Here in Oklahoma, which is definitely near the bottom end of the pay scale, you can find jobs all over the place in rural schools. There will be a few in the cities, too, but not as many. The pay will suck either way though. Have you considered using your teaching experience to get some sort of training position in a company, rather than a school? I know that lots and lots of places hire dedicated training staff and that actual teachers can be highly valued.

JOB OPENING WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST FIELD TECHNICIAN I will be hiring two people to help me with bird research this summer. It's a temp job, most likely early May through early August (90-day contract). Perfect for undergrads looking for summer experience. Housing is provided, work vehicles are provided, pay is $1600/month. QUALIFICATIONS: - You must be a birder and know how to confidently identify birds of the Great Plains by sight and sound. - You must be able to walk 5+ miles a day carrying gear (not real heavy gear though). You must be able to tolerate 100+ degree days and long hours in the field alone. - You must be able to get up at like 4:15 every morning and be functional (5 days a week). - You must be a fairly independent person who does not need a lot of hand-holding to get their job done. - You'll have to live in a house and very likely have to share a room with other male and female technicians. If you are a wildlife major you're probably familiar with the wildlife job boards and most of these positions want you to have all sorts of experience and be working towards a degree in wildlife. Personally all I care about is your skill as a birder. I really don't care what your major is or what your work experience is. If you are a birder and you know Great Plains birds and aren't afraid to work outside, shoot me a PM. But I really can't stress this point enough: you have to know birds and already be a competent birder. The whole point of the job is bird ID. I don't have time to teach you the skills needed to be a birder. I had so many applications last year for this job that did not even mention ANY experience with bird ID. They went right in the trash. EDIT: I just talked to my boss and I will definitely be able to hire two people for a 90-day contract. If you're an undergrad and your school does work-study, you may be able to use this job as a work-study and get college credit. I had a guy do that last year. It depends on your school though, it's not up to me. razz fucked around with this message at 17:08 on Jan 23, 2013 |

Job Seeker Location: Prefer Washington D.C, or CA, but willing to move anywhere in the Continental US. Education: B.S. in Computer Science completed this May. Experience: Will be 1 year of research experience by the time I graduate. Adept with Java, C, C++, C#, MATLAB and relational databases using SQL, PL/SQL and MySQL. Dabbled in other stuff like OpenGL, LISP, PHP, Perl. Requirements: Full-time, Salaried positions much preferred. When I can start: Mid to late May, any time following my Graduation. I love how like five political science majors in a row post as "job seekers" with no reply and the computer science guy snatches something up like that. And by love I mean "hate but feel sympathy for," since I was a freshly graduated English major not even a year ago. Thankfully I found something relevant to my degree that pays well and has benefits.
