adm posted:Are you all talking Calvetica Calendar or Classic? And is it Mac<>iPhone sync friendly? Calvetica Calendar, Classic is the older version. I think it's sync friendly? I don't know for sure seeing as I just use Google calendar as a source, but Calvetica uses the iPhone calendar anyway. I don't know how it manages to set more than 2 reminders that way, but it works. I do still like Fantastical for how you can type in a sentence to make an appointment though, but Calvetica's better for overviews, reminders, and rescheduling. Its method of appointment entry's not bad either.

You Am I posted:Does anyone know how to set up Runkeeper to show the map and details of your run to Facebook without it just sending an URL which blocks the map? I had this problem and its something that's affected other people when I looked into it. Can't remember specifics but I think fixing it boiled down to deleting the runkeeper stuff off my Facebook and disconnecting and reconnecting to dacebook from the runkeeper app. Eventually a combination of these things got it to start working again.

Odd request: is there a video program (or browser feature) that will let me pull videos off of youtube and on to my device as file? There is an add-on available for the desktop version of Firefox, but looking to do the same thing on my iPaddle. The public school district has youtube blocked so I have to have example vids saved as MP4 or avi to show in class.

Watchlater will do that, but unfortunately I can't see a way to get the files back out of the app and onto your PC if you want to watch them on anything other than that iPad.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good book database? I own a lot of books, and ideally I'd want something that can scan the UPC or ISBN (especially ISBNs) with the iphone camera and build a relatively detailed database that I could export to excel or a word processing program.

Anybody else using hip new app Vine? It's a twitter-owned Instagram-for-video sorta thing, very clean interface, very simple and user-friendly, very responsive. Videos usually load instantly, and it's fun as gently caress making silly little videos with friends. I never felt there was a need for a video sharing application, but Vine will be my favorite app as soon as I can get some more of my friends on it.

Goodreads perhaps. There is another big site that you can use and scan barcodes into for books/dvds I think, but I can't remember it at the moment.

Not sure if it is what you're looking for, but Springpad has a great media management interface.

Vine is neat-ish. I may throw my phone at the wall if it turns out I can't turn off comments though... It's the same Instagram bullshit... "Follow 4 follow?" "Wow u r sex" "check mine out"

I've never got people who will always "f0ll0wb4ck" on Twitter - your feed just becomes a total mess of One Direction and Justin Bieber fans with no actual content. Is having ten thousand followers really that important to them? Anyway, Vine looks neat, but it's missing some really obvious stuff that would've made it awesome, like front-facing camera options or the ability to record in chunks throughout the day. Or, worst of all, being able to save a video for later uploading if you don't currently have internet access.

I have not tried this and don't know if it will provide all the functionality you need, but ViaTube will save youtube videos to the device for local playback and supports airplay and tv out.

Regarding recording in chunks, can't you just press the home button and come back to it later? I agree with everything else though.

Thanks Splice - Video Editor is free and should serve your needs, though I think it re-encodes so there may be some quality loss. It's been a while since I used it though, so maybe things have gotten better.

I never really need the maps app, so the whole iOS 6 maps fiasco didn't bother me, so typically the much heralded Google Maps app is doing my head in : is there any damned way to sync stuff I bookmark on my browser with what I can see on the phone? I know 'Saved locations' is similar, but it's not quite what I want. Over the next few weeks I just want to drop dozens and dozens of pins around NYC of shops/places that look interesting so when I'm out there in April I have a pretty good guide to where I need to get to. If this isn't possible in either iOS maps (I can't think of anything that could sync to) or the Google Maps app, is there an easy way to sort it? It's the most basic feature and it's frustrating as hell it's not there.

Don't think you can do it in either app. What you might be able to get by with is setting up the map on google on your desktop using the "My Places" feature. You can drop as many pins as you want. Then if you visit google maps in Safari, you can view the maps you created. Can't edit them on iOS though.

I've done it on a desktop before in Photoshop where you import a video, convert it to photostrip format, trace over each frame, and then export it as a new video. I've found some apps that let you create animations using photos as a source, but I couldn't find any that let you import videos (or the description for the app wasn't super clear). I think it would also work to use one of those in conjunction with another app that lets you split video in a bunch of individual pictures? Do any apps exist that would do what I'm looking for? Reposting from last page to see if anyone has any good recommendations!
