FChamp is trolling XBL with Dorm, funny stuff. He's just playing keep-away and chipping everyone to death, earlier he was spamming Repulsion on a Haggar and timed out a Sentinel. He has a lot of fun with this game despite his reputation and in-for-the-money attitude. I wonder what it would be like if he played in tournament like he does online, he'd probably get his rear end kicked.

I've never gotten all the hate for Champ. Yeah sure he's a trash talker but he's never seemed extremely malicious or done hardly anything terrible outside of that. He's an incredible player and some of the things he does are hysterical. Watching him troll the gently caress out of XBL was hilarious, what with his optimized Dormammu teabagging combos and all

Boobs is Fun! posted:Kind of a bully too, with that whole Dios X thing. Yeah - I don't think anyone has been painting him as "malicious" - he's just really immature and some of the things he says on stream make me feel embarrassed to be watching. It just kinda sucks when someone with such poor sportsmanship wins the biggest tournament of the year, since it inherently casts a shadow over the community. It's like here's our champ - his favorite words are "poop" and "pelican" in that order. Anyhow it seems like he's been cleaning up his act somewhat and he's tried to explain on FGTV that he's largely cleared up most of the "feuds" from the past. It just makes me upset whenever he's interviewed and he blames all of his losses on his opponent's "random" play or playing so far below his level that he loses because he gives too much respect etc I don't think anyone will argue that he isn't loving amazing at Marvel though.

If you get randomed out then you still lost. You have at least 3 rounds x 3 characters to figure a dude out, if you can't do that then there's probably something to be said for being that random. Also how many of his wins are random phoenix bullshit?

He's thrown matches for the sake of money before and he plainly admits it 8:00 minutes into this interview. To be fair this interview is like 2 years old now but it says a lot about him, and these were one of the first impressions people got from him having just won a major at the time. It's not just his supposed "persona" that people hate, people hate him because he says/does retarded poo poo on a regular basis, but he happens to be a great player so people put up with him I guess.

Ryan is kind of a d-bag but it seems silly to actually be "upset" that there are flamboyant personalities out there who will pop off or get cocky/salty after matches. Love him or hate him, he's interesting to watch, and there are much worse things in the FGC.

Brosnan posted:Love him or hate him, he's interesting to watch, quote:and there are much worse things in the FGC. These are 2 of the biggest non-arguments ever and people said the same kind of stuff when they were defending Aris after he committed sexual assault on camera. Champ is arguably the best Marvel player in the world right now and I love watching him wreck people, but he could still wreck people without being insufferably immature while doing it and there's nothing wrong with a part of the community that wants to put this behavior behind us calling him out for it and telling him to grow up.

But no, he's not as reprehensible as Aris by a long shot.

Love him or hate him, he's interesting to watch, and there are much worse things in the FGC. Well I think you're reading too much into my use of the word "upset" - which I had picked specifically because of its mildness. It's not like I clench my fists and grind my teeth with impotent e-rage whenever he acts out, it's more like I roll my eyes and do the - I mean if he trashes someone who made it all the way to winner's finals, he's not only trashing that guy, but everyone he beat on the way to winner's finals, including (paradoxically enough) himself. And I like trash talking too! As bad as all the interviews during SCR were, the ribbing between CJ Showstopper and Viscant was hilarious. But whenever someone hands Ryan a mic I flinch a bit, 'cause I know chances are nothing good is coming. I agree though, the FGC has a bevy of attitude problems and Ryan's may seem mild in comparison to others, but that doesn't mean I'd give him a free pass to be a douche all the time.

Personally I think FChamp just acts like every typical jockish dude I've ever known. He's arrogant, but a lot of it is just refusing to be falsely modest - he's legitimately one of the best in the world. He acts out but mostly around people that are his friends, he's just more willing to do it on camera. Guys like that do things to their friends every day strangers would never forgive them for. You posture and act like a dick, but everybody know it's just posturing and you don't actually hate anyone or mean anybody harm.

I was pretty surprised to hear about his reputation after that! I think he's been trying to clean up his act because he wants to make himself more marketable and ultimately earn more money through sponsors and twitch.tv followers. It's definitely not a bad thing, but from my interactions with him, most of his actions are money oriented; it's just that before he embraced being a bonafide douchebag and his money source was from tournaments, money matching random people and raffling stuff. Haha, piling up raffle winnings to sell them for cash is a classic move by Fchamp. Did he at least sell it to you for cheap? He used to raffle his raffle winnings so he could essentially re-sell a $150 MSRP stick for $200+, until people started getting sick of it and calling out the practice. I think he still does the "CPU tournaments" though. Sorry if it just seems I'm whining about him/digging up dirt, but no, he's not "nice", not the first/second/third times I've met him. He will happily take your money though!
