I've seen some pleasant surprises in which two pawns so far have been leveled up. When I saw an early pawn I had hired come back at level 30 I was pretty happy at that. Then I decided to look at my pawn history and it turns out I had hired two pawns twice now with them coming in leveled up form.

Only one person has actually hired my pawn, and she gave me 3's in all categories and no comment. :argh:

I'm about to be hitting my forties and I just maxed out assassin and fighter vocation for me and my pawn. I'm wondering about the magic archer and the ranger but I heard the MA can suck balls due to his low overall damage and the ranger is apparently plain awesome. I've also JUST now finally found some weapons to replace those loving stilettos I've been wielding for all of the game. Ugh.

Magic archer is the best class, it just has less than ideal stat growth and no good weapons until you do the golden idol quest at the earliest. If you really care about stats you should max out at least sorcerer before going magic archer to get some magic attack and the +20% augment. But for the most part I've found once you get to 40+ just about everything is easy if you have decent gear. Magic archer also has a lot of good skills for fighting postgame enemies.

Sometimes, the 'all 3's, no comment' isn't necessarily them taking the piss-sometimes pawns can die and disappear before getting ressed. This can happen if they get thrown off somewhere into the Brine, or thrown off a ledge and you're unable to get to them in time, or for whatever reason. If a pawn 'dies' (okay, they don't, they just get sucked back to the Rift), you'll get the pawn back with 3 star ratings and no items/comments. It may not be every time, but this is a reason for it.

One time I was loving around on the edge of a cliff and two of my pawns fell off. Then I tossed the survivor off because whatever, gently caress it, I was five minutes and a flock of harpies away from a riftstone.

If all your pawns don't fall to their death while doing Bluemoon Tower, then you're doing it wrong.

If you aren't throwing all your pawns off the cliff next to Gran Soren to get those Assassin augments rolling, then you're doing it wrong.

What?

I still feel like I missed out because I went "gently caress it" after clearing out the beach and just ferrycrystal'd to gran-soren. To...get in another fight.

After that I just raced through the postgame as fast as I could, without exploring much at all. I kinda regret it but I was sick of getting pelted with fireballs.

Okay the weirdest thing just happened to me. I don't even...

So I JUST loaded up my game, getting ready to head out to the shadow fort. I leave Gran Soren and immediately I'm greeted with this epic sounding music like some huge battle is taking place. I come across something I never see before, goblins attacking a bunch of knights. I figure okay no biggy, the music is a bit overdone but whatever. I handily dispatch most of the goblins and I'm thinking 'Great! They're all saved!'....

SUDDENLY A GIANT loving GRIFFON LANDS ON TOP OF THE KNIGHTS AND CART KILLING THEM INSTANTLY! :stonk:

The camera was perfectly aimed by circumstance so the griffon landed RIGHT in front of me. This is my first ever Griffon and this...event thing so I do what comes naturally and jump on it's head and begin stabbing the poo poo out of it. I'm laying the smackdown, one of my pawns has summoned meteors, suddenly it throws me off, lifts up into the air, and just...flies away. Like, completely flies away leaving me alone. I'm left sitting here in an area of dead goblins and soldiers and thinking... what the gently caress just happened?

You level up and get better equipment pretty fast in post-game. I stuck around for quite a while selling ferrystones to keep getting better equipment and replenishing supplies until I had done everything except killing the Ur-Dragon (fought the online version once to see what it was like).

The Griffon running away is a lost opportunity for pawn banter. They should have said something silly depending on how many items you use.

Sometimes when they spawn they just carry right on with flying and don't even try to land or acknowledge your presence at all. It's actually kind of cool to see one of the giant monsters not give a gently caress and just do its own thing without immediately rushing in to fight you to the death.

Okay I just hit level 40. What is this 'golden idol' quest that people banter about?

Also it seems noticeboard quests have dried up for me for the most part. I've also been doing a few of 'main' quests at the castle, and so far have done the shadow fort, the decypher text, and am now embarking on the cult quest.

I've pretty much explored the map except for a tiny little sliver at Blood Beach and some gate looking thing in the northern forest which I think may be a thieves' fort. Is the rest of the map going to open up at some point or is it going to be a huge blueballer Like when I entered the shadow fort and an obnoxiously large part of the world was uncovered on the map, basically saying 'gently caress you for thinking you were going to have a large world to explore!'

Have you been sure to check the boards back at Cassardis and in the fortress that looks well sturdy? Both of those get more quests over time because Capcom hates you.

The Golden Idol quest comes from Fournival's daughter. She has a bowl cut hair and a red dress, I think? Little kid who's usually wandering around the rich part of the castle town. There's a strict time limit on when you can do it, I forget when it starts, but I want to say before the Fournival Trial and after the initial quests you do with Ser Maximilian? In any case, it's an escort quest where you accompany her through town and do some stuff with her. You just want to stay near her, but never do anything like pick her up or attack her, as that will poo poo your chances for it. Eventually, she'll say she's thirsty. I think you just need to give her bottles of water. And then you'll have to play hide and seek with her.
After that, you get the Golden Idol, which you can give to They're Master Works All guy or Madeleine. The two of them ask for an idol at some point and you can only give them one per playthrough. I prefer the wares that Cagston gets after the Golden Idol quest, which is why I give it to him. However, after you give it to him once, he keeps those wares throughout the subsequent playthroughs, so you can give it to Madeleine next time. Additionally, if you make a copy of it, you get a discount when buying things. Just don't give the forged one to Cagston/Madeleine, because that doesn't give you anything except for a quest completion.

Notice Board quests are purely for money/rewards, and nothing else. They don't contribute to that one achievement/trophy for completing all quests. Just do them at your leisure, but don't get too caught up in them, especially the extremely tedious ones. Just complete them at your own pace, like the various kill x amount of y monster.

Unfortunately, that is how the game works out. Major sites, like Bluemoon Tower, the Blighted Manse, Great Wall, and Shadow Fort are all blocked off until plot allows you to get in. It's ok, I did the same thing. I was rewarded with sweet rear end equipment, though, like a triple headed great hammer for my main pawn and a buff magick bow for myself. Plus, you get a better sense of the overworld as a whole. I do admit that that may contribute to one of Dragma's flaws, in that the world initially feels pretty big, but it turns out to not really be so, and that you wish you could Ferrystone to a few more places so you can take a break from all that damned running.

You also have to race her, you have to let her win but don't like stand still for 20 seconds, wait till she reaches the finish line then start running cause she'll know you purposely let her win.

Question on Griffins, is there a way to force a spawn for them, or are there areas that they will spawn after x amount of days, because I've seen and killed two in the last couple weeks of game time, and one of them was part of the griffins bane quest. The wiki doesn't say much other than they spawn around Gran Soren.

One spawns west of the bandit castle south of the Shadow Fort. The area is called "Eradication Site".

Also, you might need to kill a minion monster to bait it down, like during the quest. I'm not really sure though, since I've only fought like one or two outside of the mandatory encounters.

One always tries to bully me up by Hillfigure Knoll.

I was pulling up the special daggers at the gather point on the spear when one basically landed on me without my pawns alerting me to its presence, remarkably.

When you fail a quest in this game, is it gone forever? I accidentally triggered the quest early on where Mason asks you to tail a guy in Grand Soren (something something "shadows" something), and blew it by getting too close. The next time I left the city, it got marked as "FAILED". I didn't care at the time because that quest seemed boring and I wasn't planning to do it ever anyway, but I'm reading the wiki and it sounds like maybe I needed to do it to get the Golden Idol? If that's true, can I no longer get it?

And another quest-related question: I just finished Trials and Tribulations, and I'm wondering: is there any reason at all to convict Fournival? I read the wiki, and based on that, there don't seem to be any positive consequences for it, at all (unless you really want to screw over his daughter for some reason).

Does anyone have an extra flower for the Talent in Bloom quest I could have? I was an idiot and rested one too many times, and now it's wilted. I spoke to Quina and she tells me she doesn't have another, failing the quest. I reverted to checkpoint, and think I could still complete the quest if I got it from someone. My ranger pawn is over level 100 if people want to hire her, but other than that I'm not sure what someone would want in exchange.
