Yeah, despite all the promise that Galaxy Squad had, I think the bug tank is the only set to make good on it. As much as I like the design of the human vehicles, a) one of them needed to be huge [>1000 pcs] and b) they all need more color. All that white is so nondescript; it makes them look like concept art/sketches that never got colored in.

Yeah one of the biggest disappointments is the lack of a huge bug blasting cruiser. Space Police III had a great huge ship that really hearkened back to the Blacktron, Ice Planet 2002, etc. space sets.

I'm pretty stoked for those Castle sets myself. It's been, what, five or six years since non-franchise castle and a bit longer for normal, not-Troll Wheel Lego. Give the seven-to-nine-year-olds a chance for some standard castle fair.

Also, I really want a classic Pirates theme to come back, since I got back into Lego just in time to watch the Imperial Flagship sail off into the sunset. But standard Castle has me pretty excited and it's just another kingdom to fight all the other ones we already have.

I think a goon posted photos of their collection of every 21st century castle set once and it was amazing. The wars I would've had as a kid... :allears:

Kingdoms Joust was released January 2012, the Kingdoms line was still on store shelves at Targets and TRUs probably until spring or later of last year. Did you block that line from your memory because it really hasn't been that long at all, and these sets are practically the same things (big square castle, carriage, smaller castle facade) but with a dragon, which admittedly is pretty cool.

Minecraft is back in stock at Lego.com. It's up from limit 1 per customer to limit 5, so they're probably trying their best to make this avaliable and try to screw over Lego speculators that have been hording the gently caress out of this.

That being said, I am going to buy like as many of the Back to the Future ones as I can early, because drat have a lot of people made money off of the limited stock of the Minecraft set.

I've skipped the late 2012 models from Technic, though I may end up with the Crawler just for those motors. I definitely want that crane and tow truck bad. I'm especially looking forward to seeing how they got the top truck stabilizers to extend via motor and retract when the tow arm lowers, that's a pretty neat function.

The Puyallup Toys R Us has Alien Conquest for 40%-50% off! There are (now) 3 Earth Defense HQs and 4 Alien Motherships left!

There's a catch, though.

The sale isn't quite as big a deal after TRUs' 20-25% price hike. MSRP for the EDHQ is $90, and the Alien Mothership at $60. TRU's at $110 and $80. I still bought one of each, though, since you probably won't find them much cheaper anywhere else.

About TRU pricing, so far when I have looked at my local TRU things really don't look very marked up, maybe Wichita is just lucky.

The one set that I knew was marked up was the Malevolence, it was $140 vs $119 at Wal-mart or Target. But if TRU does price matching, what do I have to do to convince them to sell me the set for the RRP? I could simply go to Wal-mart instead for the Malevolence, but what about Technic sets where I can only find the RRP from lego.com? Would I just have to print off a copy of the Wal-mart or Lego web page that has the RRP? Also, I assume if I want to convince them to price match, I can probably forget about getting % off to? Like the malevolence was $140, and they had a "Spend more than $100 get $25 off", so if I really wanted the Malevolence (I don't after reading reviews) I could have purchased it for $140-25 = $115 slightly cheaper than Wal-mart, or maybe I could have convinced them to price match ($140 to $120) and take off $25 too making it $95? I doubt TRU would go for such a deal but if it was a good set maybe I would have tried.

Another thing about TRU, my local TRU seems to only do the the $25 off $100 or more sale. . . I have seen BOGO 50% off one time, and I tried to take advantage of it because it said "all Lego System proudcts" but according to the cash register, Star Wars did not count as a Lego System product.

:siren:HOW TO SET UP AND USE POV-RAY WITH LDD:siren:

First of all, you need to make sure you have the right versions of POV-Ray and the LDD to POV-Ray converter. For POV-Ray, the build you need is 3.7 Beta, which is not the build you are directed to normally through the website. Go to http://www.povray.org/beta/ instead. For the converter, download the correct version, as per your operating system (either 32- or 64-bit). Install programs and restart.

To test you've got everything working right, make a simple model of one or two bricks in LDD. Save it.

Run the converter and go through the setup. Check the db.lif directory is correct, and choose a location to store output files. Make sure you've got plenty of space, as output files can be quite large (500-1000MB). Highlight the string Library_Path="\\.\LDDIncludes" (including quotation marks) and copy to your clipboard.

Now, open POV-Ray and select Tools->Edit master POVRAY.INI. This file should be fairly empty, so scroll to the bottom and paste your text into a new line. Save and close the file.

Once this is done, go back to the converter and you should have this screen (you may need to restart the converter):

Under "Input file", select your test model .lxf file. The output should be filled automatically. You can fiddle around with the options later. For now, just hit the "Convert" button. When prompted, select "Yes" to start the render.

Now sit back and wait.

Note: The model will be rendered using the view saved by LDD, so remember to line up your model in LDD before you save.

Note 2: I had trouble getting POV-Ray to render until I turned off bevels and logos in the converter, but I was then able to turn them back on and it worked fine.

I get an error saying that there's no db.lif file, and that the model is currently open in LDD. LDD isn't open; reinstalled and restarted a few times, changed the paths, same error. The odd thing is that I can't for the life of me find the db.lif file -- is it supposed to be created by LDD, or POVRay, or the converter?

The only .lif file in there is assets.lif

The converter creates the POV file if I check off the "Don't generate includes" box, but then the actual render doesn't work because it can't open the default.colours.inc file

I wonder if I need to reinstall LDD for this.
