Pretty sure that was Tokyo Drift. I actually like that movie but it's seriously news to me that anyone else does.

2 Fast 2 Furious is the only one in the series that's just plain bad, whereas most people who hate Tokyo Drift are the people that didn't bother to watch it. Plot-wise, Tokyo Drift was a bizarre lateral step for the series, but Justin Lin more than makes up for it. That motherfucker can stage an action sequence like nobody's business, and he gets better with every movie. If Fast Five and the Super Bowl trailer are any indication, this movie is just going to be outrageous fun. Although I am over the strange fact that Han's future death hasn't been addressed, considering how quickly the technology of Tokyo Drift has been surpassed by technology in the newer movies, which supposedly take place earlier. Hopefully they'll just retcon it once and for all in this one and be done with it.

I hope they retcon it by showing Han get his hands on a Delorean, and Justin Lin gets to direct the next Back to the Future. I mean, I would settle for a Tokyo Drift sidestory showing what the hell Han was up to (and his inevitable escape) when the main doofus in Tokyo Drift does his thing. I swear there was like a hidden crime drama in the background, but was completely taken over by the power of America.

But didn't Han said at the end of Fast five that he was going back to Tokyo to that hot Israeli chick? However if Michelle Rodriguez can survive being killed so can he. I also think that Tokyo drift was pretty cool.

PriorMarcus posted:Haha! Look at that small fry poo poo. Here, have a proper Superbowl trailer; So, um. I just now got a chance to watch this after seeing it for the Super Bowl. They use a remix of The Prodigy's "Breathe" in this trailer. It's barely recognizable, but at the 53 second mark, the title comes up, and there is that BAD-rear end motif from the song, as if to say "Yes, this is indeed bad-rear end." Here's this trailer that shows tanks crushing cars, cars bringing down loving freighter planes, other various scenes of car superheroics and a bunch of people looking hot, sweaty, and/or angry and it is set to a remix of what is arguably THE gently caress-poo poo-up anthem of the 90s, one that is just as gently caress-poo poo-uppy without feeling dated. Perfection. This Memorial Day, we are all bros.

ApexAftermath posted:Extended Iron Man 3 spot. The last 15 seconds of this trailer are just textbook. Look at that promise: "In this one Iron Man's got to do the impossible." Not just a bunch of stuff exploding and moving fast, not even some airy-fairy "nobody's ever done anything like this before", a cut-and-dry set piece with a hard numerical fact that he's got to beat somehow. And look how Downey sells the possibility that he can't actually do it. I love it when an action hero is uncertain about whether he can win. I'm desperate to see what happens next. This is a great trailer.

Yeah, I'm sure there will be a set back and some dramatic music, but it's pretty evident that they all link hands and he lowers them down like a rapidly falling human dandelion chain. Has everyone else missed the fact that this trailer spoils it's own dramatic mystery?

So Justin Lin (or whoever) obviously listens to the fans because everybody was talking about how Rock was covered in grease throughout Fast 5 and in the new trailer Tyrese says "why do I smell baby oil?". It looks like they gave away all the money shots in the trailer but oh well. Will still see it opening weekend.

I was thinking this right after watching the new trailer. FF6 will be the Avengers movie that The Avengers wasn't. PriorMarcus posted:Has everyone else missed the fact that this trailer spoils it's own dramatic mystery? The most honest part of the trailer was the first 30 seconds when it tells you everything you need to know about what IM1, 2, and 3 are actually about. lessthankyle fucked around with this message at 07:24 on Feb 6, 2013 |

I'm serious when I say this: The Gina Carano vs. Michelle Rodriguez fight could very well top the Vin Diesel/Dwayne Johnson fight from the last movie. Much like that fight, these are two action stars who could otherwise star in their own solo movies, and are still at their physical prime. I hope they planned this fight with the same HOLY poo poo mentality.

I like to go to car sites like Jalopnik when trailers like the one for F&F6 gets posted there, just to see all the car nerds going ga-ga over the vehicles featured. There will inevitably be one or two guys that tries to list everything in the trailer. And from the looks of it, the filmmakers are not skimping in that aspect.

The TV spots for The Last Exorcism 2 now start with a news blurb on the radio announcing Pope Benedict's resignation. I have no idea whether that blurb will be in the movie or not, but it's an admirably blatant bit of barnum.
