They make a big deal out of it not being a secret organization or the masons when you sign up.

Yeah but the Catholics are all slave to a Pope. That's also the main issue China has with Catholics, iirc.

Korean Catholics have positive thoughts about Pope Palpatine but don't see him as infallible, or at least the ones I've talked to don't. It's official, I literally do not exist at my school. Today I gave my VP a gift from Cebu, and he had no idea I went. He thought I had been at school the past week. This means he never received my request off from my coteacher. The end result was that he just shrugged and said it wasn't a big deal, because I showed up when I supposed to for class. Later, my coteacher told me that the VP said that he as long as I'm there to do my work, he now doesn't feel the need to ever check up on me. I am truly invisible. This isn't the religion thread but whatever, papal infallibility is something really misunderstood and more complex than "the Pope can do no wrong." It only counts on specific issues of tradition, scripture and... Something else, I dunno. I just know theres three things. I haven't even met a Catholic here (that I know of.) I've only met two Buddhists that I know of and that's because other people brought it up. I don't talk about religion if it's not already what people are talking about, so I only find out someone's religion when they randomly work in "I'm a Christian!" Catholics and Buddhists dont seem to give a gently caress here, but generic Korean Christians or whatever seem to find a way to work that in in the most random, off topic ways. Edit: I got a basic English drug abuse speech from the pharmacist at homeplus today, that was neat. He seemed satisfied when I told him I have bad allergies and my doctor in America gave me this, but I think he was just agreeing for the sake of it. It's like I'm the only person here who takes Benadryl for allergies at night and cant breath without it. They're loving pharmacists I don't get it. They when to pharmacy school they have to know that 50mg a day wont kill me. BrainDance fucked around with this message at 13:37 on Feb 6, 2013 |

Of course, but that's what I take and I got that speech because of the rate I buy it at. There's about 8 pills a box so it's not very hard math. Me taking one pill a day was enough to get a drug abuse speech. Edit: I guess more background. This wasn't just because I was buying diphenhydramine, but because I stop in to get a box every week or so. It is abusable in a limited "I'm in middle school this will gently caress me up" way but it's way under glue, huffing spraypaint and running into a wall head first. Grand Fromage posted:Catholics tend to be the more liberal ones in the US too, strangely. Well it depends. More liberal than fundies definitely, but there are some sticking points. For example, the Catholic church has promoted the study and acceptance of evolution for decades, but I know otherwise liberal, borderline socialist Catholics who think condoms and birth control should be banned. It's almost like banning the cleregy from getting some has made them obsessive and ignorant on sex or something!

1. Sidewalks also function as motorcycle lanes, open-air markets, tiny parking lots, product storage, really anything you can imagine. 2. 95% of fried chicken places and coffee shops are categorically identical. They all sell the exact same poo poo and everything tastes the exact same. The only difference is what celebrity promotion they have. Somehow, most stay in business and new ones are opening all the time. 3. Need to take a taxi across the entire city? You might be expected to pay as much 20,000 won.

Yeah the having 5,000 identical businesses all next door to each other that are constantly empty yet somehow still in business and doing well enough for even more to be opening constantly is really the thing that continues to blow my mind. It has to be some kind of government supported jobs program. There's nothing else that can explain it. Ulsan is creating a coffee street next to our cell phone street, which as it sounds is literally 100+ identical cell phone stores next to each other. Coffee street is up to like 20 coffee shops and still growing.

The architecture up there was soul-draining, nothing but endless highrise apartments in all directions. It bothered me how thin they were, and back then the milk-crate-shaped roof was much more prominent.

terivinix posted:That would be very low in most North American cities. Haha, brother believe me I know. $20 in Chicago might get you to the next neighborhood over. Maybe. The architecture was another mindblowing thing for me too. It doesn't seem like there are many building codes? First off, towns go straight up. Endless miles of rice fields then, BANG, a town of 100,000+ all within a few square km. Got a few stories on that building? Toss in some apartments, maybe a PC bang or two, definitely a few bars and restaurants, maybe a dental clinic and probably a norebang in the basement. Also the pretty bland, endlessly-repeated styles really serve to show off when an architect tries something new and interesting. Seoul has some really incredible buildings but the best is when you're like twenty kilometers outside Asan or something and there's this insane technofuture arcology lookin thing sitting in the middle of a small developing commercial district.

A) I also heard a lot about well behaved, reserved, quiet, respectful students. 2) All the videos of housing on YouTube talked about strict recycling laws, I was excited for this and quickly disabused of that idea. 3) I still don't understand butchering here.
