There's still hope yet, Nintendo just has to reimagine franchises x, y and z to be more in line with my extremely specific preferences and then let Gabe Newell sell them on iOS.

Nah, the new thing is to reimagine them in line with my extremely specific preferences then let Gabe Newell and J.J. Abrams make movies out of them.

e: Actually you know what? I'd watch a J.J. Abrams Star Fox after he gets done with Star Trek and Star Wars.

This is hilarious. I highly suggest anyone who has a Wii U to check out the Uplay community because there is some serious comedy gold. I've been laughing my rear end off for the past hour.

This is an old article and i'm sure there are examples disputing this, but this situation came to mind while thinking about this delay: http://www.edge-online.com/news/microsoft-demands-simultaneous-multiplatform-releases/

TLDR version, article about Microsoft demanding simultaneous multiplatform releases.

Ubisoft PR posted:

"There are no issues with the game development. All of the information was in the press release, the only reason for the delay is to release on multiple platforms," Ubisoft public relations specialist Sarah Irvin said. "We usually release all of our platforms simultaneously (aside from PC). We've made special exception sometimes in the past but it's definitely just on a case by case basis and not our standard practice. In this case, Ubisoft recently decided they wanted to release the game on multiple platforms so the decision was made to launch them all at the same time rather than separately. I know it's not an elaborate, 'convincing' answer, but it's the simple truth."

Well, at least they aren't using the "it's about the fans" rhetoric anymore.

Edit: This is the source.

Well atleast they were upfront about saying that the title is going Multiplatform. Then again was there ever a Rayman game that wasn't?

PaletteSwappedNinja

One Nation, Under God.
They're upfront about it now that they've announced a multiplatform release, weeks from launch, but before then they were insistent that the game would remain a Wii U exclusive, that it wouldn't be the same without the gamepad, yada yada.

Honestly while the delay does suck, I think this is also the first chance to see how an original title made for all 3 current systems compare to each other preformance wise. Sofar the Wii-U ports were afterthoughts and were made well before system's launch, however this is now a game that was made for the Wii-U and will be ported over to the 360 and PS3.

This is a stupid thing, and I hope they change it before the game launches:

Eurogamer posted:

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate's multiplayer servers will be region-locked

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate's online play will be region-locked, Capcom has announced.

The news first broke in a Spanish GameReactor interview, but Capcom later confirmed it on its official forums.

"I'm not thrilled with the servers being split either," said Capcom community specialist Yuri Lindbergh. "I am definitely aware of the demand and feedback, not only in this thread, but also from threads before finding out these bad news; so be sure that I will pass it along. There is no guarantee this will change though."

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U will be running on Nintendo's servers and it remains unknown what the cause is for the region lock, but we've asked Capcom for comment and are awaiting reply.

Unfortunately, the 3DS version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate won't support online multiplayer at all - a shame as online 3DS games support cross-region play.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is due in Europe on 22nd March and in North America on 19th March. A demo is expected for both platforms on 21st February.

Seriously, what's the deal with online play if you can't team up across the globe?

Somehow I doubt it'll be a big deal. I'd guess the engine they developed it on is portable to them to begin with (if not originating from them), the dev environments are mature, and a sprite based game isn't exactly the most complex thing to throw at them.

Is the online in Japan a paid service like the previous games (while free elsewhere)? That's the best I can't think of, but did the Wii one have cross region play?

But Rayman Legends isn't sprite based. All those character models are polygons with modfiers in the stacks to make them act like 2D. Origins was the same way, the entire point of the UbiArt engine was to simulate 2D with 3D objects.

Oh interesting, is it used on the 3DS and iOS games too? Anyway that still leaves the engine and dev experience parts though, it's not like they'd be starting from scratch in every respect.

MHT was region locked as well, though you could get around it by homebrew or by playing whatever region copy of game on whatever region of Wii that you wanted to do co oping in, so Aussies could play in NA (they defaulted to EU normally) if they got an NA Wii and copy of the game.

And yeah Japan had to pay monthly for MHT. It sucks multiplayer is locked but it's how the last game was too. Just learn some portugese to deal with the brazilians and happy grinding!

Wow, I am pissed at Ubisoft, but only Ubisoft! Not the Legends developers. Only Ubisoft!

I will still get it by the way, unless there are other releases in that period that I want more.

Looks like my only Wii U purchase next month will be MHTU and Tekken Tag Tournament 2... though that's good for my wallet since I'll be able to save up money for both the Wii U and the 3DS games that I want in the upcoming months.

It's still not going to push a lot of pixels. The performance is almost certainly going to be fine on all 3 systems.

The performance probably won't be an issue, but there's always bound to be a version in multiplatform titles that's a smidgen better than the other two or three(if there's a PC port).

Yes, but caring about that is super dumb and doesn't really demonstrate anything. It will probably be best on the WiiU version, but because that's it's where it was primarily developed, not because of anything special about the WiiU.

The concern is that Rayman will be competing for shelf space and in-store marketing, at a time when retailers are going to emphasize other big budget titles. Some casual / impulse buyers that the game might appeal to may not even be aware that Legends is available or even exists.

Isn't that bundle just barely more expensive than grabbing a Deluxe set that comes with a hard copy of Nintendoland and then just picking up a copy of ZombiU separately? Surely ZombiU can be found for less than $40 now, somewhere.

I'd still like to see a Monster Hunter one, maybe with a unique color scheme or some poo poo (color probably won't happen).

Oh, I missed that, must have glazed right over "Pro controller" right in the middle of the sentence. Yeah, good bundle if you're wanting a pro controller. Does Nintendoland use it? ZombiU can't because of the whole backpack system, right?

I really hope that same bundle comes with MH then. I'd be surprised if that game doesn't support the Pro.

Eh, I'm not so disappointed on missing that bundle, especially since I got in on the Costco deal for fifty bucks off.

Also, Zombie u isn't my kind of game, I'm a pansy when it comes to horror games, probably because the tension doesn't let up often enough. I may pick it up later if I find a way to approach it with some levity, like The Dark Id's LP of RE4. First time a guy's head exploded with the razor tentacles I turned the console off, and I didn't know about flash bangs.
