So... I just got offered a position as the CIO of a smallish entity I turned it down - since I got offered a project for corporation which will rock my socks off, also a pay rise and reduction in hours... I am such a whore! Edit: to clarify, I would have to take a pay decrease to take the job... Synpe: Happy Hat fucked around with this message at 20:04 on Feb 8, 2013 |

It's 5:45 and blasted child has been awake since 4:30. Trying to get him asleep again. Yesterday it was 4:10. Wife can't help as she has mild pneumonia, the lazy woman. HH, can I come and work for you in Greenland? I'll do anything for 8 hours of unbroken sleep a night. Thank goodness for blue pave d'affinois (yes, you heard me right, friend: blue pave d'affinois). My beloved taco truck is back! As near as I could understand, they tried a new location and didn't like it so they moved back. The lady then told me I should have called the number on the truck to see where they were. Immediately she started laughing, realizing that we can only really understand each other through hand gestures and pointing. I have the number anyway, so I can get someone to call for me if they move again. In any event I had an Al Pastor torta and it was better then my memory of it. I also checked out a new mexican market near there and fould they had a decent butcher shop with all sort of meats I cannot get elsewhere. I bought some chorizo verde, which I have never heard of but have high hopes for and some chicharros, the kind with a huge chunk of meat and fat still attached. The lady at the checkout said that on Sunday they sell the "special pork" but it is all gone by noon. No idea what she is talking about but I want in. Maybe I should learn Spanish I think is the lesson of today.

Mr. Wiggles posted:I bet it's morcilla. There's a thing about morcilla disappearing by noon. Nope, that had that in the case already. It looked like it was only being sold can into chunks and mixed with cut up onions and peppers which seemed weird. I also bought what appears to be a lemon, lime, and Mellon slice somehow preserved in sugar, turning it into this weird gummie candy consistency. Needless to say it is amazing and I could have eaten them all in a sitting if I had let myself.

Scientcy, I appreciate your rugged individualism, but the bike is gonna get OLD come the hot months of summer. 90 degrees at 50% humidity is drat nice, at 95%+, not so nice.

Squashy Nipples posted:Sometimes it feels like the air is attacking your lungs! Going to have to agree here, I live in SC on the SC/GA border, and even being pretty much right on the river. 80% humidity @ 95+ is sucky. It will definitely not leave you in any condition to work, unless your job is a gym jock, and even then you'll need to take a shower when you get there. Ugh. Public transit might be okay if you don't have to walk more than 2-3 blocks to and from bus stops.

The weather is rough in the summer time and the public transportation is even worse. You should get a car, and make it a Mini Cooper or a Fiat just to troll your neighbors more.

Not only should you get a car, you should get a unique car. Like a Dauphine. Anyway I think I've finished booking my honeymoon trip through the UK, and I've got a nice mix of cool B&Bs and old castles/manor houses to stay in. Except for London, which doesn't seem to have the option really. I've got to say, the UK really does have a lot better options for neat and cozy places to stay than the US does.

Made my first attempt at kimchi on Monday. I just tasted some, and checked that it was actually fermenting, which I wasn't sure about. I can easily hear it fizzing away, so no doubts now on that front! Flavour was not very strong. It tasted a bit watery. On Tuesday morning I saw that there was very little liquid in the jars so I topped them up with brine. That probably accounts for it. Hopefully as it ferments the flavours will meld and strengthen. I'm rather pleased it isn't a total disaster though! It's pretty easy, so I can make another batch at some point and hopefully rectify my errors.

Some of this is positively pornographic in nature! ....and not in a good way! Edit: amazon are refusing to split my account.... I am now telling them that my recommendation list is cruel and unusual through its pornographic nature... Basically that they're in deep violation of my human rights... Goddamn - we spend more than 1k a year on this poo poo Edit2 : Now I am claiming divorce and split of assets. Due to psychological mistreatment due to exposing me to pornographic content on amazon... Edit3: They understand - but we are not married in the eyes of Amazon, and are unable to split accounts due to mere trifles like divorces or deaths or anything like that! We do not read books in Danish on the kindles - we only use them for English, Italian and French reading. I will _not_ look into what the gently caress it is she is reading, but from her squeals of joy I know it cannot be good! How the gently caress are electronic assets not to be handled like immaterial assets? I mean - we can now goddamn trade named accounts freely, why the hell can't I swap a book from my account to my wifes? The good thing about this is that when I burn my wifes kindle, the kids will never know what was on it!
