Sorry, but would someone mind checking my order list as well: I think it's installed okay. My main concern is that I haven't seen one sandstorm/rainstorm at all, which seems kind of odd, despite the frequency being set to high. They were working fine, but after I installed Freeside Open and a couple of others things and started a new game I haven't seen one. Saying that the thermo weather device thing works and I'm able to set special modes fine, so I'm not sure if it's a mod problem or something else. Thanks.

It could be that Lonesome Road and Honest Hearts aren't active, and that they have information used by the sandstorm and rainstorm effects.

Strangely those weren't active when I first started off, but they seem to load fine when playing (I get the DLC messages at the start).

So, the newest ENBseries release adds a beta of what it calls "detailed shadows" to the game. It doesn't seem to affect performance at all and produces generally nice looking results, though it can get far too dark in regards to the shadows that it produces. Most of the time it's really obvious. Though, it can definitely also be much more subtle too. Either way, it looks fantastic more often than not. I think I managed to resolve my problem with weather effects. Just shifted Nevada Skies all the way down to the bottom of the list, then switched the rest of the DLC on. Literally as soon as I start the game I get a storm.

To fix up the sky with ENBseries stuff you've got to mess around with the stuff under the [Sky] setting in the enbseries.ini. The gradientintensityday and cloudintensityday values are what I messed with to get the sky the right brightness again. For the transparent gun problem, I had that but I don't really remember how I fixed it. I think it had something to do with turning on depth of field with pyDOF but I don't have that mod anymore and the transparency is definitely gone. If shadows are showing up inside your gun then it's related to ambient occlusion, and turning that off "fixes" that. I haven't really played around with the settings so that probably can be fixed, though.

I have been looking around the internet but I can't seem to find an answer to my question: Somehow, the few mods that I have installed really messed with my game, making it unstable (especially when entering Primm's casino, crashes every time). I want to just basically do a clean re-install without having to redownload all 8 gigs. Isn't there an option where steam can verify that your game directories are what they should be, and delete/replace everything that was changed/is missing? I am sure that it'll turn out to be something very simple and I'll feel very stupid, but I can't seem to find an answer to this. (and yes I read the binary solution but I also want to remove some texture packs that were added)

# ? Feb 15, 2013 16:54 |

Use the Steam backup feature. Then delete the directory and restore the backup. Anything that doesn't check out will be retrieved from servers. I wish people wouldn't even suggest redownloading an entire game anymore, unless that's literally the only way left to render it playable (as in the drive it was on died or something).

edit: ^^^ thanks! gonna do that right away On a separate note, I really love New Vegas, mostly as it is. I am not trying to turn it into a different game, I basically want to run it more smoothly, with better texture and gameplay tweaks to make the game harder/better. So, in terms of mods for my next install, I am thinking of: fnv4gb jsawyer.esp nmc's high def texture pack weapon retexture project enhanced blood texture signature weapons conelrad Am I missing something? I'd also check out Project Nevada - Core if only just for sprinting and a grenade hotkey. The latter was pretty crucial to getting me to mix in using explosives instead of just running and gunning. Other than that Circosan's Classic Overhaul Follower Tweaks (CCO) changes followers by toning down their damage by rougly half while also making them more durable. Made combat a lot more challenging than with vanilla followers.

Mission Mojave has a slew of sometimes questionable and downright offensive changes, like setting the owner to everything not nailed down to NPC 00000001 (this makes about as much sense as you'd expect it to) and the removal of rank-and-file NCR female soldiers respectively. I'd shithouse that one, especially considering New Vegas is relatively functional as-is.
