I made some terrible cat art today with some lovely Chinese film (china hasn't mastered the art of using paper that actually blocks light to seal the film) and a friends catsynpe.

I live in a large city in an area with a lot of "double income/no kids" people who dote on their pets, there's an off-leash dog park very close to my home and a fair few pet related businesses around the place. I've looked into it and there doesn't appear to be many photographers attempting to do any business so I'm starting one as a side to my wedding/portrait stuff. Here are shots from my first session. Anyone want to give me some harsh critiquing?

The dog pictures look nice, the dude holding the dog is squinting like mad though.

It doesn't matter what you call your cat. They don't respond to names and yet they're still adorable for some reason.

Both of my cats respond to their names. They even know which name is theirs.

Back in the early 70s my dad and a friend of his had a business doing glamor shots of fancy felines. Also, I know in Kentucky there's a decent market for horse portraits. There's definitely a market for it.

Got my first DLSR (after the cat photo contest, of course - Rebel T3i, nothing compared to what a lot of you seem to have but a huge improvement for me) and have been really enjoying it compared to my 7-year-old Powershot S3 IS. Favorite feature: my house doesn't have very many windows in the main living area so it tends to be kinda dark, and the highest ISO setting the old camera had was 800. My pets make pretty good practice.
