Yes, yes it is.... I thought that it was a good episode! Although the ad breaks would've been very tedious if I'd not started watching a bit late and been able to fast forward through.

The minute the crowd shot appeared, it had to be a mob justice thing. Crichlow was great, Smiley was too.

Tonight's Black Mirror's also the plot to an old Future Shock in 2000AD, and I'm pretty sure it's been done elsewhere in comics too.

Yeah that was something. Christ.

I might rewatch it sometime to see if there were any hints that it was a set up before the big reveal. The only one I can think of is that the woman accompanying Victoria seemed to have perfect make-up and hair for someone who'd been running for her life for however long. I thought that was an oversight at the start of the episode, but I suppose they may have put it in on purpose.

I've just realised, the whole point is to show justice being diluted for the masses.

Considering she keeps on getting her memory wiped, each day is the same. So really, what's the point of repeating it so many times? Surely it's just to create an amusement park out of it, and commercialise the justice system.

The bit where Jen's companion gets shot and flops down at the back of the petrol station, and her reaction to it is on par with dropping a small bowl or getting caught watching things on YouTube when you're meant to be working.

Not for me - I'm watching Utopia and Jen felt just like the Jessica character, so that didn't tip me off at all.

The only feeling I got that this might be a reality show was that it pretty quickly reminded me of 15 Million Merits from last series, with the uncaring observers like the audience for Hot Shots.

It's both thrilling and terrifying.
It's odd. I pretty much hated that episode of Black Mirror up until the footage they showed during the end credits, at which point the episode strangely redeemed itself. I was ready to declare this a straight-up bad episode of television, but somehow the last 45 seconds or so made it click for me.

Still, it's probably not a good idea to have a protagonist that literally screams and cries the entire episode. I was rooting for her to die before the twist was even revealed (this is my way of saying the character was incredibly annoying, not that I agree the justice system should work like that).

Noreaus

HEY, WHAT'S HAPPENING? :)
Yeah, unlike the coda for The National Anthem, this one was actually essential for a full enjoyment of the episode. The full horror of it only clicked when I saw "justice park".

So basically what you're saying is that to enjoy something in full context you should watch the whole thing?

Isn't that the point?

That was a great episode, I was all "WTF" when the crowd shot was revealed, and then it started to click when the news report was played, but it wasn't until the credits that I really understood what the point was, and it was glorious.

With Black Mirror - I have to admit I was wondering in my head if she was a bit of a wrong un because her boyfriend looked pretty chavvy. Then I chastised myself inwardly for being so judgemental about a person's appearance. Then I was a bit smug because hey I was right, he was a wrong un. I thought there was quite an interesting subtext there.

I'm off to watch the last episode of My Mad Fat Diary now  I don't want it to end!

My friend just bought me the book so at least I have that to comfort me.

Stare-Out

I felt that episode of Black Mirror was somewhat of a letdown. The "twist" was good and pretty terrifying but I can't say the same about the buildup. About halfway through the episode I pretty much figured out the whole thing which didn't help but I can't really add that as a criticism.

Every other episode has been very good though and I'm quite impressed with the overall production value. The whole thing reminds me of a less goofy and more cynical version of The Outer Limits. The second third episode of the first series has been my favorite so far, not sure if I'm too keen on it being made into a movie but we'll see how that turns out.

E: VVV That's the one.

I thought it was really good and I had been spoilered. I knew it was a gameshow and the women was a murderer but even though I saw the repeat every day thing coming a mile off it was done so well it gave me the heeby jeebys.

What do we want here guys another series of deal or no deal or some more stuff like this?

It depends. Stuff like Utopia and Black Mirror is obviously wonderful, and Mad Fat Diary is as well (even though it's on E4).

But then you see the kind of daytime fare they're putting out (which I guess we can ignore because what else can they do?) and also their watered-down documentaries and it seems a little poo poo. They used to be really good at that kind of thing and now I find them unwatchable compared to similar things on BBC2/4.

They have definitely seen a decline over the years.

The one thing I liked about Black Mirror is how they designed her punishment to reflect her own crime, so she's taken into the woods by a man and woman, threatened with torture, then the plan is to burn the White Bear transmitter. She's also told all the people filming her are under the same sort of "spell" she claimed she was under when she was filming the crime.

Just caught up with Black Mirror. Absolutely incredible. Up until the Twist I thought it was a good example of a zombie thriller but not up Black Mirror's high standards, but then The Twist came and that was amazing. Personally for me it all really clicked when Baxter was hyping up the outside crowd like a Big Brother eviction night. This is right up there with 15 Million Merits for me.

That's exactly what I thought about that bit too. That twist just came out of nowhere, it was amazing.

Similar to what Brown Moses said, when it was revealed that she filmed the murder of the girl, I thought back to when she was screaming at all the people filming her asking why wouldn't they help. It was just all really well put together.
