Santa With Muscles was the best movie he could star in. Rock starred in crappy movies while taking small roles in huge movies. I suspect Hogan's ego got in the way while Rocky is letting someone brilliant manage his acting career.

Because if anything, Rock should only do action films. Thankfully, his new agency lets him do them.

Walking Tall wasn't a bad way to kill 90 minutes or so. I certainly didn't regret watching it or anything.

Granted they were crappy, but still.

Rock was smart enough to not be in a movie that was written by Hogan, Vince, and cocaine in a weekend.

I will never believe for a second that cocaine didn't have an Executive Producer credit on Scorpion King.

let's be honest, cocaine deserves EP credit on a lot of things in Hollywood. it's cocaine.

I like the one where it was originally about a wrestler who beat up a casino dude but got changed to be a returning marine for some reason, and it's like barely nintey minutes long. Rock turns up, breaks some faces, plays some football, happy ending.

Did WWE ever make a serious but unsuccessful effort to recruit a WCW guy? I can only think of guys who were eager to jump like Jericho or the handful of guys who took Time Warner buyouts as soon as possible. Was JR just a hands off kind of guy? He tells a story of how he met with Rey and told him to hang out and rest his injuries, and the contract offer would be on the table when his Time Warner deal was up a year later.

It was The Rundown in Canada too. We're so exposed to American TV here, they could never get away with having a different name for an American film release, especially because you'll almost never find a Canadian movie in the major theater chains.

Welcome to the Jungle is an awesome movie. I might watch it again over the week. I got back into wrestling in late 2010, thanks to this movie being on TV, and the fact that I watched The Other Guys and MacGruber shortly after. You wanna talk WCW? Let's recall that one time they did an episode of Baywatch. The first time I watched this episode, it reminded me to start watching wrestling again, and that there's this fed that's not the WWF and Hogan and Macho are there. Bash at the Beach (Feb. 1996)

New Observer is up from late December 1995. I thought this quote was a bit interesting. For those that didn't know, WCW was planning on taping 2 Nitros at an event (one live, and one in the can for next week) to save production costs. It mentions thisWrestling Observer posted posted:WCW has reconsidered the original decision to tape Nitros bi-weekly starting the New Year. The belief at least from WCW is that Titan is on its last legs and they want to keep up the full court press so they'll be going live at least through April. Nitro dates for the New Year are 1/8 in Charleston, SC, 1/15 in Miami, 1/22 in Las Vegas, 1/29 in Canton, OH, 2/5 in Lakeland, FL, 2/12 in the Tampa area, 2/19 in Salisbury, MD and 2/26 in Cleveland. Crazy that this isn't even the low point for WWF as ratings were fairly equal. I'm very interested to hear what was going on at WWF around the time the NWO caught fire and WCW started beating the poo poo out of them. I also found this quote funny since the thought of Vince "chatting" with fans and being an rear end in a top hat is hilarious. Wrestling Observer posted posted:Vince McMahon was online after the 12/11 Raw. He was less of a smart-rear end this time although many people were complaining that he was dodging all the hard questions.

I think most of the people under employ at WCW were locked up pretty well by Bischoff to a good number of years. I think a good number of guys who were leaving ECW had their pick of WWF or WCW, and WCW just had more money to throw at them. I'm totally guessing, but it's likely Awesome and Storm probably turned down lesser money from Vince. I think JR just put the interests of the "boys" first, and tried to look out for their well-being. His un-aggressive streak might be a possible reason why his job eventually went to Big Johnny, but who knows. JR was (is) an excellent judge of talent. I do know that Rey Mysterio used to call the Stamford offices daily about a job once his Time Warner deal ended. I'm guessing JR was gone by then, and they weren't sold on Rey's marketability.
