After much deliberation (with help from the dear Rhianna Ronchetti) I decided mine would be an African bush elephant (and of course female, hence being slightly smaller than normal). A chimpanzee was a close second.

The woman is a character from goon-created webcomic Gunnerkrigg Court and she has existed since the Earth was formed, and possibly even before that (she can't remember), so she would've met Reapers when they came to check up on Earth before.

Spoilers for Gunnerkrigg Court and the first Mass Effect game: Jones is an immortal, invincible entity that's existed since shortly after the formation of the Earth. The Reapers show up every so often to kill all sentient organic life, so presumably Jones is familiar with them since she's as old, if not older, than they are.

He'd have to change to an easily copied and almost sprite-like art format before that happens, and then the floodgates of original character will open.

That's one thing Sonic, MLP, and Homestuck all have in common.

Get stuck on a crowded convention floor next to a table of overpriced katanas because you're trapped by Homestuck trolls, fursuit bronies, and Hetalia cosplayers and you too will find the separation difficult! I think DicktheCat's concern is a fandom becoming obnoxious to the point of the original media being synonymous with bad fans, the aforementioned being the trifecta of unforgivably awful (or at least at the time).

Um, no? Why?

Because it just sounded like something I'd say sarcastically.

Sometimes works get tainted by their fans. Prime example: MLP.

I'm sure it's a cute show and good for kids, but bronies make me not want to even be associated remotely. Same with Homestuck. I really like the author, and think he's pretty funny, but gently caress, just what the hell happened there. Any time I see art of it, I think of the fans.

With Gunnerkrig, it's not even that the fans are odd or anything. Usually, unless it's extreme like MLP or Homestuck, I don't pay attention to that. It's that fans of Gunnerkrig just won't shut the gently caress up about it lately.
