How Did This Get Made is literally my second favorite podcast. They get a little bogged down sometimes, or all the time, but I enjoy how they play off each other.

Yeah, I like HDTGM a lot. Some of the criticisms I've seen around here aren't even inaccurate, they just don't bother me as they do some people. On an internet that is over-saturated with vlog critics who aren't very funny and act like every single movie they watch is the worst, most infuriating thing ever, it's nice to have a voice that's more joyful about bad movies and piloted by actual comedians.

Have you tried the Reality Show Show that people are hyping in the Earwolf thread yet? Those were solid recommendations.

I rather like it, it's definitely different to most media-centric podcasts. The crosstalk does give me a headache sometimes though.

The biggest problem with HDTGM is them SCREAMING about poo poo. "Hey guys remember how so and so did that thing and" "I KNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW OH MY GOD!" Jesus christ calm the gently caress down.

Another great We Hate Movies episode is Poison Ivy. We get to hear them bemoan the lack of the Dog Oscars as well as their imitations of super creepy Tom Skerrit. "Heh heh....keep the change....."

I could listen to Jason Mantzoukas talk for hours so I have no problem with someone saying its their favorite podcast. I love it and unlike the other podcasts in this thread, it has perspectives that aren't just a bunch of nerdy white guys in a circle jerk. Its a great show with a good enery and actual thought. If it's not for you, I mean that's fine, i'm sure your personal problems are pretty serious.

I tried Comedy Bang Bang and I just couldn't get into it, I just want people to come on and give funny interviews, the characters don't do it for me. I could only listen to Nerdist for a couple episodes because the two co-hosts or whatever are constantly talking over the guests and ruining jokes so I didn't enjoy that either. HDTGM talks about movies which I enjoy, they all work off each other really well, they make fun of each other all the time, and like Politcalrancor said I could also listen to Jason Mantzoukas talk for hours. It wouldn't even matter what it was, if he did a podcast I'd listen to it because he's literally hilarious and has a crazy laugh. Edit: People like different things. Finding someone enjoying something that's different from you "hard to believe" is super weird.

I listen to two bad movie podcasts at the moment, one being How Did This Get Made. Which I enjoy for mostly Jason Manzukas. The other is Yeah It's That Bad because I feel it's the podcast my friends and I would record; full of silly injokes that haven't been funny in ages and teenage maturity on dirty sounding words and phrases. It definitely has a problem actually reviewing things and feels not that deep at all but it's enjoyable to listen to them recount the whole movie.

I decided to try out Yea, It's That Bad since you're like the third person I've seen who described it as basically that, I randomly picked I Saw The Devil since I love that movie. So far these guys have done a great job talking about how well shot the opening is, the great cast, asked if Korea knows the Bang Bros, and are analyzing nut shots as a scientific concept. Yea, this is pretty great, thanks!

I'm a big fan of We Hate Movies, and wanted to mention that Judge Dredd is another of their best episodes. Overall I think "Battle for Endor" was their absolute best, especially when they describe the final battle as "the orc's Vietnam."

Thanks for that - it's pretty entertaining! I always love finding a new podcast that I enjoy with a big backlog to work through. I do wish whichever of the guys who did the editing would lighten up on removing the verbal fillers, though. Everything's a bit run together giving some of the conversations a sort of Simpsons-esque "so I grab-HER-sweet can-" editing vibe.

The circular, twisted logic of Sleepaway Camp basically gave HDTGM a free pass for life from me. I know it's all their worst habits (yelling, lots of time spent discussing the most minute poo poo) but the reactions are so goddamn real I can't hate it.

OK Octopus posted:I'll chime in with Alcohollywood. It's a drinking game movie podcast that tends to hit about as often as it misses. There's some actual mixology talent on display here, but they tend to get a little holier than thou with their movie choices and their attitudes towards films in general. Can't say I totally support anyone who builds up Rubber and Throw Momma From the Train, then slams Labyrinth and Neverending Story. I'm the cohost/co-creator of Alcohollywood, and I wanna chime in to say that we've gotten a lot better in the intervening episodes that OK Octopus mentioned in this post - we do good, I promise . We've got a persistent thread here in CineD where I post new episodes/answer questions, and we got nominated this past year for Best Food/Drink Podcast at the People's Choice Podcast Awards! As for other bad film podcasts, I can definitely echo the sentiment that HDTGM gets progressively more irritating from episode to episode, especially during the long stretches of time where they lose sight of the real movie and just blather on conversationally. Still, they do have quite a few gems, and I still love Jason Mantzoukas. I also want to recommend Rewatchability (http://rewatchability.com/), a great podcast based out of Canada that focuses on nostalgia-based films in general; they've got great chemistry and maintain a wonderful energy, without it being hyperactive or overly wacky. Their Fifth Element and Hard Target episodes, in particular, are really good. Hewlett fucked around with this message at 22:42 on Feb 20, 2013 |

After seeing all the praise it gets around here, I'm curious: is We Hate Movies the kind of podcast you can listen to even if you haven't seen the movie, or is it something that's really only funny if you're familiar with what they're discussing?

It's pretty simple, really; those were, respectively, a very early episode and our horribly-done 50th episode (where we had too many guests and too much alcohol), and for some reason those movies didn't resonate with us whenever we watched it. Like for reals, our Neverending Story episode is a nightmare we shan't soon be repeating. As for Labyrinth, Jared gets a li'l cranky about nostalgic movies, especially when he hadn't seen them as a child (he waited till he was 18 to watch it, and I had no really close relationship to Labyrinth though I had seen it as a child).
